I rented a 2 bedroom flat in Eddington, Cambridge, managed by Strutt & Parker, and have experienced serious health and safety issues that went unresolved despite 1.5 months of communication. • On 31 May, I reported a water leak — foulsmelling waste water damaged the property and caused visible mould. Even my children's books were ruined. • Plumbers came on 3 & 9 June but left the removed bathtub panel unsecured in the corridor over a month, creating a hazard. • On 3 July, I learned the leak involved waste water, meaning my family — including two asthmatic children — had been exposed weeks. • Repairs began on 8 July, but the flat was left littered with tools and rubbish, including outside our neighbours' door. • On 9 July, mouldkilling chemicals were applied without notice, causing eye irritation. The agent later confirmed this exposure — no safety measures were taken. • As of 15 July, the carpet is still mouldy, the communal area is contaminated, and my son is still sleeping on the sofa. Communication from Strutt & Parker has been inadequate throughout. I was told to "be kind to the landlord" because they had to cover the cost of repairs — I have already paid a full year’s rent upfront and am unable to relocate. My lease ends on 15 August, and I fear this flat may be re to another unsuspecting tenant. No one should have to endure these conditions or this level of neglect.
