1 star is generous for this absolutely shocking excuse of a letting agency. Having rented through other agents, I will under no circumstances rent a property with Martin and Co and will make sure friends and family do the same. I rented a flat for roughly a year and a half and upon the initial viewing of the flat, I was told that there were multiple repairs that were already booked and due to be completed before my moving in date, which were not completed. The flat was unbelievably dirty, the windows and doors were all faulty and leaking, any reports that I made were ignored and even lead to damage of my own property; I reported a faulty door hinge (which was pointed out on the initial viewing) and the report was ignored. The hinge eventually broke completely and smashed my tv screen! I requested for a gate to be fitted at the steps outside the flat as I had youths drinking, drug taking and harassing me on my own terrace and was told multiple times that the landlord was comparing quotes. 7 months later and still no gate; but with multiple emails saying the landlord was still comparing quotes. Within a matter of three weeks, our rent was increased by £50, then a further £50 without any notice. We were allocated one parking spot in a private car park and I was not allowed to park elsewhere, however customers always parked in my spot. My mother had a sign created and I displayed it above my car parking space. Two days after handing in the keys to my property, my mother went up to the car park and removed our sign as we were unsure whether this company would be petty enough to charge us for leaving it there. There was a member of staff from Martin and Co that had arrived to check the flat and saw my mum taking the sign down and questioned the car parking situation. My mum explained that it's a nightmare to park and the staff member moved his car to a different spot then stayed in his car. He then proceeded to call the agency and report that my mother was ripping down the flat's sign, was refusing any access to the flat, was hurling abuse at him and removing things from the property despite us handing the keys in two days before. Not only was this an absolute waste of my time, but downright lies as my mother is heavily disabled and was only just managing to remove bolts from the sign! I've never had so many issues with incompetent and rude staff and hope to never have to deal with this company again. I'm thankful to finally be rid of that god awful flat!
