1 star is generous for this absolutely shocking excuse of a letting agency. Having rented through other agents, I will under no circumstances rent a property with Martin and Co and will make sure friends and family do the same. I rented a flat for roughly a year and a half and upon the initial viewing of the flat, I was told that there were multiple repairs that were already booked and due to be completed before my moving in date, which were not completed. The flat was unbelievably dirty, the windows and doors were all faulty and leaking, any reports that I made were ignored and even lead to damage of my own property; I reported a faulty door hinge (which was pointed out on the initial viewing) and the report was ignored. The hinge eventually broke completely and smashed my tv screen! I requested for a gate to be fitted at the steps outside the flat as I had youths drinking, drug taking and harassing me on my own terrace and was told multiple times that the landlord was comparing quotes. 7 months later and still no gate; but with multiple emails saying the landlord was still comparing quotes. Within a matter of three weeks, our rent was increased by £50, then a further £50 without any notice. We were allocated one parking spot in a private car park and I was not allowed to park elsewhere, however customers always parked in my spot. My mother had a sign created and I displayed it above my car parking space. Two days after handing in the keys to my property, my mother went up to the car park and removed our sign as we were unsure whether this company would be petty enough to charge us for leaving it there. There was a member of staff from Martin and Co that had arrived to check the flat and saw my mum taking the sign down and questioned the car parking situation. My mum explained that it's a nightmare to park and the staff member moved his car to a different spot then stayed in his car. He then proceeded to call the agency and report that my mother was ripping down the flat's sign, was refusing any access to the flat, was hurling abuse at him and removing things from the property despite us handing the keys in two days before. Not only was this an absolute waste of my time, but downright lies as my mother is heavily disabled and was only just managing to remove bolts from the sign!

FLAT RENTAL... I wonder if they have a different approach with sales/buyers customers. Considering WE pay for their service, we pay them, we're the customer, they aren't professional at all. They are unreliable, come up with excuses, whinge and argue. Customer service is not their best point. In fact I can't think of a good point. Oh and don't complain, they won't like that.

Absolutely horrendous. Dirty flat. Everything broken. Constant lies. Money grabbing. We moved into out flat to find it had not been cleaned at all, it was absolutely awful. Food stains in the kitchen, hair all over the bathroom floor, dirt on the walls, the whole flat absolutely stained from top to bottom in nicotine. It took us 5 hours plus a professional carpet cleaner to try and get the place clean, and even then the decor was still yellow with nicotine. When we called the office all they could do was apologise despite breaching their contract of a clean and well maintained property. Then we found out the tap was leaking all over the floor, it was 2 weeks before they decided to do anything. Plus radiators and curtain poles hanging off the walls and light fittings hanging out of the ceiling. Then the oven broke completely, for over 2 weeks we were constantly reporting this, when they finally came out to fix it, the guy from dart told us it had been reported broken over a year ago! After asking them to fix repairs and fix the decor, we had enough and decided to move out. We asked them the procedure and were told we only needed to give a months notice. Then they told us we needed to stay unless we paid an early release fee so we paid the fee. Then they claimed we still had to pay the rent and council tax, despite paying the early release fee. Then, 6 months after us leaving the flat, we were contacted by the council saying that Martin and Co claimed we still owed council tax, despite us finalising all bills before we left. The flat was disgusting and all they did was rip us off for money! Plus when we agreed to the flat it was �475. When we came to pay the rent, it had miraculously changed to �495 without us being informed.

Be very wary of renting a property through Martin & Co. They're slow, unreliable and extremely expensive. �360 fee just to move into a property (on top of rent and bond). 2 cancellations 5 minutes before a viewing time. A shambles to say the least... Read Full Review

The photos of the flat where old (they showed the flat as brand new when it was completely destroyed by previous tenants).
The flat was dirty and I had to do a professional cleaning the very first day.
I had to do the inventory check in myself (they inventory check in was done probably once when the building was built and was never updated there after).

What agent could do to change your mind?
Nothing the agent said would allow me to recommend middlewood road office. Would strongly recommend using another office. I rang the campo lane office who where excellent in their communication skills and very professional in their behaviour
