I contacted Martin&co in Bath to make an offer on a property, matching the asked amount. After prompting a few times the person I had contacted, I offered the asking price, and she informed me in writing that the landlord had accepted the offer and proceeded to send me the paperwork with the agreed tenancy length. I filled in the relevant paperwork and sent it off, satisfied that I had secured the property. The property however remained in their active listings, I just thought they had forgotten to take it down. I then received an email the following day telling me that the landlord had accepted another offer. No explanation or apology. I emailed back explaining my disappointment, as I was under the impression that I had secured the property, and never received a reply or explanation. I was however added to their distribution emails advertising other properties, without my consent, and asked to get removed from that. I can only assume they received a higher offer and sent it on, which should not have happened once my offer had been accepted in writing.

I would not recommend using this agency. They had a poor communication with me and had clearly took side for the landlord at the end of the tenancy. Same story as usual - a student letting, so they saw us coming and decided to rip us off. Paid them for nothing. On top of agency fees are them taking majority of deposit unfairly.
