I had an overall bad experience renting with Alexander Greens. In addition to the large fees compared to their competitors, which to be fair they are (generally) upfront about, they are unprofessional and at times plain stupid. Let me explain by means of an example: the washing machine had a built-in dryer. I contacted them to explain that the drier had stopped working, though washing was still ok, and asked them to fix it, and they responded that they would instead replace the entire machine. Fair enough, fix it or repair it, no issue there. They replaced it with a washing machine that did not have a built-in dryer, and we all therefore had to start using air driers instead. I'm not sure if the contract requires them to provide a drier, but the washing feature of the machine was working just fine. As an agent, their role is also to mediate disputes between the tenants and the landlord. Do not expect impartially there. A long term tenant of theirs living at the premises, who for that reason was acting like he and his wife owned the place, started imposing arbitrary rules without consulting the other tenants. One such rule was that the trash had to be taken out every Sunday evening, and when I pointed out to him that the house rules only stated it must be taken out "regularly", he complained to the agent. As a result the agent kicked me out, which is their right, but I asked them why there was no due process involving hearing both sides of the argument. They simply said they had a long term tenant that they trusted making complaints. So much for the mediation there. When I finally left, I put back the pillows they had given me at check in, and which I hadn't used, on the bed. They slapped me with a £25 fee for having to discard them. I explained to them that they were in the original condition since I hadn't used them, assuming the £25 was for wear and tear. They said that if the pillows were there in the beginning, I didn't have to pay the £25 fee. Aside from wondering if brining a couple of pillows down the stairs to the trash really costs £25, this must be the first time I have been charged for having more, rather than less, on the inventory at the outset. All in all, best avoided if you want a drama-free stay. Good luck with your house search.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Basic customer service skills when dealing with their clients. As they didn\'t even mask the fact that they could not care less about us and our well being. They could have listened and acted upon our requests, which were not unreasonable. Acted as a mediator between ourselves and the landlord. As opposed to ignoring any issues they didn\'t fancy having to deal with.
