Bought a house recently via Retties. However, was then gazumped by a cash bidder later in needless circumstances. Morally repugnant behaviour and the only Edinburgh firm that seem to indulge in this behaviour as we recently contacted another company in Edinburgh, ***, about buying a house and even though we are now cash bidders they informed us that the house had just been sold subject to sale but they would take our details if that changed. They could have easily taken our money as more favourable for their client but obviously their reputation and morals mean more than money, unlike Retties.

3 Dec 2019What are you talking about? RICS is related to the surveying of properties which is irrelevant. Is that the code of ethics you actually use to justify your behaviour? Because they are not a set of etchics-they are related to issues like quantify surveyors failing to notice Japanese knotweed near a property, for example, You are the only property company in Edinburgh that condones gazumping and indulge in activities that other companies are legally or morally obliged to avoid. Edinburgh is a small city and your dwindling rating is a clear indication of the futility of your unethical and unprofessional business practices.

I don't know what the property code of conduct in Scotland is but rettie accepted our bid for a property on the closing date and it was months later I discovered that they had also accepted a bid from another party.
