Have been renting with leaders for almost a year now and have to say it is the worst experience my husband and I have ever had! Upon applying for the property you're interested in and once the relevant fees have been paid, you are BOMBARDED with email after email after email demanding all sorts of nonsense. A simple checklist of things they need would suffice, but we must have have about 40 emails between us! Then once you're told you have the property you need to get the keys ONLY at a time to suit them. Don't worry about having to work, that's not their issue... you need to work around THEM. Don't be fooled into thinking the transaction of property to tenant is to be treated as any kind of paying customer. Then, once you're in, every 12 weeks (sometimes sooner) they demand to see the property at a date and time to suit them - forget working when they tell you that you have to be where they need you to be! After demanding you be available (if you aren't comfortable having a hostile stranger walk around your home that you're paying over £800 a month to live in) an estate agents walks around the property for all of 3 minutes taking photographs (never had this before in over 11 years of renting), always leaves without commenting on a single thing. On top of the excessive amount of check up visits you have to cancel work for; about every 3 months or so there's some kind of contractor who MUST have access to the property again on a day and time they choose. So that's another holiday day used or day off wasted waiting at home. Regarding any issues with the property, they don't seem to grasp complaints or issues at all - they literally speak to you as if you are dumb and must have something wrong?! Had issues with the area, the fixtures of the property, the garden, neighbours. All have been a nosebleed to try and explain, in some cases I've even had them demanding photographic evidence before they will consider your 'complaint'. My husband and I haven't had a single uninterrupted 8 week period of this overpriced tenancy without someone demanding to be in or home! It all feels very invasive and actually makes us feel like squatters... like we're sokewhere we shouldn't be? We can't settle here. I don't even want to spend money furnishing the spare bedroom or making any kind of long term commitment because I feel like a stranger here and that I'm living in someone else's home illegally! Every week I check rightmove to try and find a property that fits our requirements and that ISNT with leaders because I'm desperate to leave this place and this agency. The only thing I actually like about this whole experience is the fact that this house is genuinely beautiful, modern and was immaculate upon moving in. Everything else has been awkward, uncomfortable and I'm going to say it again â INVASIVE!
