I really wanted to have a great experience from start to finish but unfortunately that didn't happen. We rented a house from Alison, we paid full asking price of £1050 a month. We had to clean the house before moving in as there were dead flies on the floors and it was dusty. We had to change the lounge carpet as it smelt of urine, we also changed the bathroom & en-suite carpets to cushion floor because again the smelt of urine and had black mould growing, (all at our expense). we were warned by the neighbours that the landlady would sell the house as soon as her father died and she had her probate through, so after a year and two months of being there we gave 6 weeks notice to move next door with a 3 year tenancy, sian taylor of HRT cowbridge tried to keep us at the property until the end of September 2019 because that is when it suited the landlord to have us out. Both of them came to their senses when we pointed out that we have no contract and that it was completely illegal to do that. We had the carpets steam cleaned but not vigorously cleaned as the carpets and underlay were 19 years old and it would have caused damage, the house was left spotless. There was a small hole to one of the bedroom walls no bigger than a 20p but HRT didn't mention anything when they did two prior inspections. 10 days after we vacated Sian then went to do a final inspection, long story short she kept £210 for the filling of this tiny hole and a further £160 for carpet cleaning. She didn't send us any quotes or any reason for keeping our bond until we questioned her. Twice she tried to steer us away from contacting the TDS, but we went ahead with our dispute. Sian has also lied to the TDS saying we didn't sign the inventory - we did it was hand delivered to their office a week later. Sian also told the TDS that she offered for us to reclean the carpets and patch up the small hole, again she has lied. BE VERY CAREFULL RENTING WITH HRT
