I cannot put into words how appaling the service we have had from Bridgfords Stockton Heath is. We went to Dubai to work, and left our house to be rented out, fully managed by Bridgfords. Whne the current tenant gave notice to leave we asked for the house back as we had a friend who wanted to move in. Bridgfords handed the house back in a terrible, uninhabitable condition. When going in the house we found a contract in the kitchen which indicated that the previous tenant had sublet the property for the purpose of rehabilitating drug addicts and criminals. Subletting is specifically mentioned in the tenancy contract as being not allowed. The house had a flooded kitchen, was infested with lice and ants, had drug paraphenalia, a ceramic sink cracked in half, burnt carpets to name only the large problems and on top of that was filty dirty and smelt vile. Bridgefords were paid to check the house 4 times over the years tenancy as well as checking the tenant out and failed to notice or inform us that our house was full of drug addicts, of the burnt carpet (they claim they didn't notice as there was a footstool placed over the burn), they also did not inform us of the flooded kitchen or cracked sink. When we complained to them about the subletting they deny all knowledge and say its nothing to do with them, they didn't know. They tried to claim the money for repairs from the previous tenant (only after we brought it to their attention and asked them to do so) but he says he did not cause the damage so Bridgfords now say we have to pay. They won't acknowledge or admit any liability whatsoever, not even apologise. Their attitude absolutely stinks. I have complained in 5 emails, copying the branch manager Ian Cuthbert into every one and not once has he even bothered to email us back or ring us. Lisa Sidebottom called us after the first email and all she did was deny, deny, deny, and was actually quite uncaring and rude. We have been handed from person to person, even to people at the Manchester regional office and not one single person has done anything but deny any responsibility. We havent had even a hint of an apology. They did send a cleaner in after the first complaint but the cleaner did a terrible job, so they sent the cleaner back and the place was still dirty. I complained again and they emailed me back to say that the house was 'SPOTLESS'. Our tenants pulled out and we are now losing money on an empty house, and faced with a bill of thousands to repair the damage to put the house back to a rentable condition 9the condition in which we left it with them). All Bridgfords have offered to do is send a gardener to tidy the gardens (but then tell us if the previous tenant fails to pay then we will have to). If their gardener is as bad as their cleaners then I dont expect it to be any good. Their customer service and mission statement seems to be ignore landlords complaints, and then deny everything when landlord fails to go away. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with, and I would never deal with them again. I am currently getting legal advice. I would advise anyone considering renting their house to learn from our mistake and avoid Bridgfords at all costs

Nobody takes ownership of issues, ignore emails and all this for the privilege of paying £475 fees to simply move into a property. Awful service and I will never use Bridgefords again as either a tenant, landlord or prospective... Read Full Review

It is no surprise to me that as I write this, the stats at the top of the page put Bridgfords 2 from the bottom of nearly 13 THOUSAND agencies. How they are still operating is mind boggling. The degree of incompetency is baffling. From the moment I moved in, I have had nothing but bother. Firstly,... Read Full Review
Act and behave morally. Thats it.
Agents fees?! I can\'t even write about them as I am likely to pick up my laptop and throw it at the wall. They are ridiculous, and single tenants are penalised.

This branch are useless and provide poor service where you would expect it. Basic information is not provided (utility suppliers/ door codes/ gate codes etc) and when you question it or ask for information staff are rude and useless. Lisa was particularly rude, called me unreasonable for not... Read Full Review
The agents should have basic information available. They should meet you at the property to hand over the key and go through the inventory together and address any issues.
Fees are disgusting and not worth it considering you have to do all of the work. £60 Inventory Fee > You have to complete the inventory yourself which then isn;t checked. £55 Administration Fee> You have to complete everything yourself and chase for basic information. £250 Agreement Fee > Disgusting. Upfront payment came to a total of £1375 - extortionate and disgusting.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
