Countrywide took over a small independent Letting Agent in Amesbury Wilts, and changed its name to "Austin and Wyatt. Within weeks all of the existing knowledgable staff had left. The back office became a call centre in Nottingham. Countrywide's speciality is "add on charges" which they turn into an art form. You will pay for EVERYTHING. Local maintenance contractors were forced to add a hidden percentage to their charges (passed back to Countrywide) or face the sack. Simple routine admin tasks, such as a simple rolling contract renewal are charged to both landlord and tenant. Regular property inspections were cursory in the extreme. Tenant maintenance issues were not followed up. Communication is dire at best, arrogant and patronising at worst. I have been a private landlord of a portfolio of half a dozen residential properties for almost 30 years. ASustin Wyatt/Countrywide are by quite a margin the worst agents i have ever used. I have been lucky enough to have sacked them now from all of my properties and sleep better at night because of it. AVOID AUSTIN AND WYATT AT ALL COSTS.

19 Apr 2018This is so sad to hear, and continue hearing. I was one of the Partners of the former business and retired a year before it was sold to A&W. I still receive contact from former Landlords. I have now returned to letting in Salisbury and hope you have made reassuring alternative arrangements.

Originally seemed a respectable and decent agent to rent from until the end of the tenancy. Staff do not pick up the phones.
