I will never ever use Chappell and Matthews again. My boyfriend and I rented a flat through a landlord who went through Chappell and Matthews and they are all as bad as each other. They say they will contacted you back but never do. Whilst living in he flat we had no hot water for 2 months and we also had damp and mould growing in the bedroom due to an over grown greenery on the other side of the wall. After asking chappell and matthews to contact the landlord 6 time to sort the problem we finally asked for a early release because I am pregnant and couldnt live in those conditions. Hot running water is the minimal requirement when renting a property. Chappell and matthews promised us all 6 times they would sort the problem but when we moved out early it still was not sorted. After moving out we had a fight to get out deposit back, they would give us every excuse under the sun to keep gold of our money. After 4 weeks I went to see chappell and matthews in Bath whilst I was at work and asked them for their head office number so I Could sort it myself, the guy asked if he could help as he would be managing Chippenham store from December. . I told him everything and he said he would sort it for me.. he said he would contact head office that day and then email me that afternoon to let me know what they say. I never received an email but he did phone me 2 days later to say he had spoken to head office and the money would be in my bank within 2 to 5 working days. Why did it take someone from another branch to sort this for me? And I still haven't heard from chappell and matthews in Chippenham so if I had not gone to the bath shop I would probably still be waiting.

Zero stars (not even 1). I have had a truly shocking experience as a landlord and will not recommend these agents to anyone. Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
