In 1991 Paul Eperon and Peter Davey joined forces to create James Anderson Estate Agents in Barnes. I used James Anderson as a tenant. I am also a landlady and looking to buy another property in the area - whilst I can imagine they would have turned on the charm if they’d known that, they didn’t so I will avoiding them like the plague. Once they have got you to sign on the dotted line, their behaviour changes beyond belief. I work in professional services and they are rude and bad-mannered - and I observed especially towards women. They show no respect in their interactions with you as a tenant paying several thousand per month. There was also mishandling of my fees (they were lost for a period of time) and contract at the start of the tenancy. The end of my tenancy is also being handled appallingly. I will be spreading the word locally and I won’t go near them again.

We've recently been looking for a property to rent in East Sheen/ Mortlake and have found some of the staff at James Anderson to be incredibly incompetent. We had some pretty simple requirements as we have 2 young children who attend school and nursery locally. One staff member we dealt with was so bad he even took us to view a property where the landlord wouldn't accept tenants with children. After much searching we've secured a really nice property to rent through another estate agents. I'm amazed a company like James Anderson is able to function with such poorly trained staff who don't even bother to listen to the most basic of requirements for prospective tenants.

Henry Moloney dealt with the viewings and the sale process, and again was thoughtful to my mother's situation. A quick sale was secured, above asking price. He kept us informed on a regular basis and I never had to chase him up as he was always ahead of the game, keeping us up to date along the way. He was always friendly, charming and helpful and a delight to deal with. Thank you Henry and all at James Anderson

We recently purchased a home through James Anderson with Henry as the selling agent. We had quite a long wait between the acceptance of our offer and the actual completion of the purchase. The delay was quite frustrating at times, but Henry handled the situation in a very professional manner. He kept us updated regularly and was able to put our minds to rest when we were at our whits end! Henry was able to guide us through the process and recommended a solicitor who we found to be be both efficient and professional. He is a charming young man and I would be happy to recommend him.

"Ripping off optimized" is the opinion we ended with regarding James Anderson estate agents. We have rented in England for 11+ years, in and out of London. The one year spent in a flat managed by James Anderson was remarkably a worse experience. Hence this review.
Summarizing some highlights:
· About two days prior moving into the flat, James Anderson tried to change the agreed to terms of the tenancy and increase the rent! We were obviously vacating the previous place and had nowhere to go. It was extortion.
· The rented flat was in fifth floor of Deanhill court in East Sheen and accessed via a lift. The lift started breaking down frequently, which meant we had to use the service access stairs on a regular basis. These stairs are outside the building and was not safe for our kid. We asked to move out of flat before the end of the tenancy period. But James Anderson held us to the full term. We agree that was the contract. But our opinion that James Anderson could have been more considerate.
· When it came to advertising the flat at the end of our tenancy, they advertised using outdated photos (more than two years old) and information (e.g. claiming the oven used daily for a year as new). A James Anderson representative stated advertising with such outdated photos is not legal but a grey" area.
· It took James Anderson more than seven weeks to return the undisputed amount of the tenancy deposit!
· Our opinion that James Anderson made unfair claims on the tenancy deposit. This lead to a disputed claim which was later handled via a dispute resolution service.
· The produced checkout inventory was clearly doctored. This was obvious as it contained photos taken at a much later date from the end of the tenancy!

They sold it twice, the second time successfully. The first deal fell through because my buyer lost a buyer, not because they changed their mind. I would be happy to recommend them.
I had used them in the past to successfully sell two apartments and I will use them again.

We dealt with James Anderson back in March 2014 when purchasing our flat. As First time buyers we were apprehensive about the process but James Anderson, and specifically Henry Maloney, guided us through the process in exemplary fashion and made it as easy as possible. Myself and my wife were particularly impressed by the personal touch Henry provided. He was very diligent in sending us property's he thought would properly suit us and our needs, and was always available to speak to as and when required. It really did feel like we were dealing with someone who had our interests at heart, as shown when an initial purchase very disappointingly fell through. Henry did a marvellous job of finding and pushing through the purchase of the property we eventually ended up buying.

Henry Maloney was one of three agents I contacted when selling my family home where I had resided for over 20 years.
I was very anxious as this was a very new experience for me, Henry put me at ease and left me feeling very reassured.
I found Henry to be honest, open, realistic , friendly but always professional.
I was kept informed of every viewing and given feedback about the viewings, in a diplomatic way I was given advice on how to improve the viewing experience.
He also was able to communicate effectively with my adult son who was living with me, so he was involved and informed about the viewings.
During the actual process of offer to completion , I felt that Henry and his colleagues were advocating for a fair and speedy sale. As with every sale and a chain there are always hiccups, without the professional estate agents this can turn into a very difficult time, luckily I trusted Henry to handle whatever anxieties and hiccups that arose, in a professional manner.
Even my lawyers commented on how efficient my estate agent was and they felt he was proactive unlike many others they had dealt with.
Despite some hiccups and delays we still managed to complete on the date originally agreed, which surprised me and this was largely due to Henry's coordination of the chain and making sure he followed up with all the parties and kept me in the loop at all times.
Needless to say I was happy with the service I received and felt that Henry earned his fee as I witnessed the hard work he put in from beginning to end.

Complaints Procedure
<p>Lettings</p>
<p>Should you have any complaints with our service which you are unable to resolve with the individual involved you should then write to the branch/department manager in question. This complaint will be acknowledged within three working days of receipt and an investigation undertaken. A formal written outcome of the investigation will be sent to you within 15 working days. If you remain dissatisfied you will need to write to the Lettings Director at James Anderson, Lambourn House, 17 Sheen Lane, London, SW14 8HY. The same limits will apply. Following the investigation of our Lettings Director a written statement of James Anderson’s final view will be sent to you, this will include any offer made. This letter will confirm that you are entitled if dissatisfied to refer the matter to the Property Ombudsman for review.</p>
