Tim dealt with our recent purchase of a property neat Otley. From our first viewing, through the negotiation process and up until completion he was engaging, helpful and really easy to deal with. We have been very impressed with the service that we have received from all the staff in the Otley office of Dacre Son & Hartley, but especially from Jane Milner. This was my late mother-in-law's house that was being sold and as we live over 300 miles away, we were very grateful that Jane went the extra mile to assist us in many ways, such as regularly checking that the unoccupied house was OK and reading the utilities meters just before completion took place. Although the sale was straight forward, there was a hiccup along the way when a problem arose with the gas supply pipe to the house - Jane's calm assistance during this particular period was very much appreciated. We would have no hesitation in using Dacre Son & Hartley again.

I really appreciate the effort that David,Georgina and Jane in your Otley offices put in to sell my property. Being away much of the time, I was not always available to show potential buyers around but this was never a problem for Dacres. During the time my property was on the market I was verbally kept informed but frequently got updates on the Dacres Seller's website portal which is an excellent facility - gives a real picture of the effectiveness of website marketing, advertising and responses. During the quiet times I never felt that my property had been forgotten and every time I spoke to one of the team felt that they had their eye on the ball and were actively marketing as best they could.

Basically if you want to view a property then try hard to avoid dacres and view either through vendor or if advertised by another estate agent. Myself and my partner asked a lady at dacres via phone to book a viewing half an hour out of office hours and were told no only 9 to 5 when we explained we do not have jobs which do not accommodate for "office hours" and we would be grateful if we could view we were once again told no speak to David I do not do out of office hours. Firstly David who???? And secondly we weren't asking you to give up your whole night just half an hour. Anyway got no where and luckily for us another managed to book through another estate agent who were friendly and was willing to do a viewing for us out if hours.

They were slow to respond to any problems we had and their customer service was less than impressive. The real problems started when we moved out: They employed a 3rd party inventory checker (in effect, commissioned on problems they find) to check we'd left the place in the same state we found it. I can (hand on heart) state that we left the place in a better state then when we moved in.

The real problems started when we moved out: They employed a 3rd party inventory checker (in effect, commissioned on problems they find) to check we'd left the place in the same state we found it. I can (hand on heart) state that we left the place in a better state then when we moved in.
1) We hired a professional gardener throughout the tenancy and paid a large amount of money to 'put things straight' when we moved in - on moving out we were told the garden would need work. We had to show them receipts before they dropped their argument.
2) When we moved in, the house had not been lived in for a period of time and as such needed a good clean. When we left I had a professional cleaning company clean the house for us. Even after the receipt for the cleaning services was supplied to Dacres, they argued that their 3rd party 'inventory checker' had noted 'dust on top of the tumble dryer' and 'dust on the top surface of lamp shades hung from the ceiling'. The house was in far better state than when I moved in yet monies were taken from my deposit. I can honestly say I would never rent, buy or sell a property through Dacres in the future.
