We dealt with a lot of estate agents when searching for a flat in Manchester and Bridgfords were by far the worst on several occasions. (1) They told us one property was let despite appearing on the website at 9am and us ringing to book a viewing 15 minutes later: we rang in the afternoon to double check and another agent told us that it hadn't been let but they were still waiting for the keys so would ring us as soon as they were available. We are still waiting for this call 2 weeks later. (2) They told us at 11am that if we could make it to the property by 12 that we could have a viewing, so we both rushed into town and waited for 10 minutes at the property with no agent on show: we rang them up to ask where they were and they said that it had been let 10 minutes after our phone call and they had tried to ring us, despite us having no missed calls and confirming that they had our correct number (3) For 2 properties they forgot the keys so we had to stand outside the front door and imagine the layout of the property (4) We were told conflicting information on several properties by different agents e.g. One agent said that the £25 price difference in two identical properties was due to a difference in landlords and another said that the landlord was the same for both properties Overall extremely poor customer service from a potential tenant's point of view. It got to the point where if a property we liked was listed under Bridgefords we just didn't pursue it. The agents themselves were lovely and very friendly, but this only goes so far if the management is incompetent. From a potential landlord's point of view I would be cautious to list my property with this firm as the way they handle potential tenants (albeit from my short experience) is embarrassing.

What agent could do to change your mind?
actually reply to contact made and to treat us with a little respect as well as carry out basic duties as a property company

Having dealt with a number of landlords and property companies I have come to expect a certain standard of unreturned calls and late repairs. but hands down Bridgfords/countrywide have been the worst property management company I have ever had to deal with. Once you are signed into a contract you are treated like a second class citizen and service is non existent. I am truly disgusted by the way i have been treated by this company - so much so that me as someone who normally does not write reviews on anything has decided to write a review as a public service announcement. when moving into the property the place was clean and superficially looked great. After signing the contract we realised that half of the white goods in the apartment were unfit for purpose. The dishwasher was broken (and 5 months into the contract remains so) and the washing machine was also broken for a period of 2 months. damages cause by the broken washer and cost of cleaning clothes externally amounted to 450 pounds due to sheer negligence of the company to carry out their duty as a property management company. We have repeatedly called the company (once every two weeks) to discuss the outstanding repair work due to the property. Every time we are [promised a call back that does not occur. To further this management are confrontational when discussing issues we have had with staff (who have in calls told us we are "a waste of time") and unhelpful - again stating they would email or call back with no response.
please look for other property companies in manchester when looking to rent. This company have caused us a lot of undue stress, monetary cost and upset. If you want to receive the worst customer service in Manchester this is the place to look.
