John German work only in the the interests of the landlord and not the tenant. We had to go for over a week with no heating or hot water when the boiler broke. We were told that it was not urgent and the delay was because they couldn't get hold of the landlord. Then the landlord allegedly wanted to get their own people on to it. We had given notice on the property to buy our own home which I think added it their reluctance to fix it. Eventually a repair man came and told us that the whole system should be condemned. He fixed it but said it would not last the week. When we went on holiday they called in the middle of the night due to time difference. I told them and asked them not to contact us until we got home. They ignored this and called four times waking us up each time. We vacated the property shortly after and the boiler broke again the day before we left. I feel so sorry for the new tenants. John German tried so hard to try and withhold our deposit but we held our own and threatened them with legal action. We had the place professionally cleaned and it was immaculate when we left. Yet when we moved in the place was filthy and we has to have it cleaned then also. They admitted in the inventory it was dirty but handed it over regardless and left us to clean it. They give less than 24 hours notice of visits and as they do not have keys we had to take time off work to let them in. We wrote a letter of complaint. This was acknowledged with a promise to look into all the issues by the end of the following week. No reply was ever received. Customer service is appalling and we are so glad that we were fortunate to be in a position to buy our own home where we don't have to answer to such unscrupulous letting agencies. Tip- please take plenty photos of the property when you move in because they will try and pin stuff on you to withhold your deposit when you leave.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
