I am currently in a dispute with seekers over my deposit £750 which they will not give back.they will avoid calls and when you manage to catch someone they have no shame and will lie through their teeth just to keep your money.I have done some research into the property lettings field or whatever you choose to call it and it is not regulated and not covered by any legislation. I have contacted the police they cannot do a thing .they have told me to contact the citizens advice and they in turn have advised me to write a letter to seekers.like that would shake those weasels into doing the ethical thing.anyway seekers knows there's jack anyone can do about them except complain to the appropriate authorities who will probably document your complaint and leave it at that.people work too hard to have some thieving bastards just take their money off them.it is my mission now to make sure the authorities close down these rogues operating under the guise of an estate agent.next step,i'm writing to the erdington MP.it wld be wrong if he ignored and would only show he does not care about his constituents.I'm hoping he'll consider it his duty to stand up for the ordinary working man and woman.avoid like there was no tomorrow, like your life depended on it .
What agent could do to change your mind?
Nothing they can do will ever redeem them.they should just shut shop and possibly be enrolled into some class on ethics

13 Apr 2014I am dealing with seekers at present they gave us notice on our house the day after we found out our eldest had cancer . I phoned to ask if we really had to move and was told the landlords who actually own seekers were getting divorced and she needed our house to move back in to with children. I explained our situation and said we would move sooner rather than later as didn't know how poorly my son would get. This was all fine as obviously quicker we were out quicker she could move in. Received a letter stating we needed to let them know ASAP if we were leaving early so the day I found out all was fine with new property I emailed seekers to let them know. I then get an email saying things have changed and we can stay in house by which time we had payed for a unit for our business ,packed, sorted travel to school,paid deposit etc I explained we were too far down the line to pull out now and was told they understood. Then messages saying we had to pay for full 2 months notice now and we couldn't be released early now . Messages saying they had our vehicle registration and we couldn't hide. We have had text messages from owner of this company at 10.30 pm saying threatening and nasty things even though they new the situation with our son. They still want us to pay another month even though it was all done how they asked and we left after 1 month . They have been so unbelievably horrible I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy we lived in the house for 3 years rent paid every month everything fine until their situation changed but we were too far to change things . The ladies in office were always nice but the owners I would not give the time of day . They have caused us so much stress . Called my husband an imbecile from the north .There is lots more to this and lots more abusive messages but hope this is enough to put people off this dreadful agent

30 Apr 2014I am having the same problem they don't want to pay the deposit back, avoid phone calls, and when you finally get to speak to someone they make up whatever excuse they can think of, like we don't have your bank details, we have to deduct this and this from your deposit (when initially they confirmed there would be no deductions), etc. I will be taking it to Ombudsman and to court if I have to.

I am a landlord and seekers have kept my rent money and kept my tenants deposit money. I have had to reimburse my tenant with their deposit because as a landlord it is ultimately my responsibility. Avoid this company they are terrible . They don't reply to calls or emails . Seekers are not registered anywhere. They claim to be in business since 1982. The truth is they have been owned by different people over the years and dissolved as a limited company in 2011.They are unaccountable and do not offer a very good service. My house had been on the market for over 2 and a half years we saw the estate agent a maximum of 8 times the rest of the time we showed people round.
