[[EDIT ORIGINAL START]] MONEY GRABBING PIGS I had rented a flat from Ben Daniels in 2008. The flat seemed in very good condition newly decor. We moved in and with in 4 months we had damp coming in from the windows and the skirting board. My wife kept cleaning this twice a day. Then the mould was growing so fast the paint was coming off the walls. So I contacted them and they said that because of being winter this happens and my wife stays in all day so you should have a window open this will help. Well we live on a ground floor flat with no second lock windows so any one could get in night or day. My wife was also pregnant at the time. The walls also had air vents so (WHY DO I NEED TO OPEN THE WINDOW ASWELL). The mould started to cover the carpets in our bedroom. We contacted the council and they sent a property inspector round and they said it was damp coming in from the cracks in the walls. So I also contacted Ben Daniels to say what the problem was and they said that was not the case they have had the property checked before we moved in. They said it is from where we had washing on the radiators. So 6 months went by still no change. My new born son started to get bad chest infections. The council contacted the agents telling them the problem and they said they will get it sorted did they NO????. Instead we get a letter thro the door saying we were behind evicted from the property so the contract will no be reviewed. Fine by me. I found a property that I liked from a different agents. I told Ben Daniels that I have found a property so I will be moving in to that one. They said we could move out when we wanted, to just give me 4 weeks notice . So I gave them 4 weeks notice. I also asked them to check the flat before I move out. The main man from Ben Daniels came round a was horrified by the mould and kept apologising for the in convince. He said the landlord would have to get this sorted before any one else moves in. he said don't worry about your deposit this is not you FAULT. We moved out I to our new house. I phoned ben daniles to ask how long will it take for my deposite to go in my account. He said, look I had some expert round to check the property and the report was that it was coursed by my fish tank (gold fish bowl). He also said that it was going to cost

25 Dec 2011I agree with all posted comments. I rented of Ben Daniels 10 years ago in farnborough. They were never interested in hearing about property issues. We were good tenants and all worked for a multinational it company. We paid our rent on time, kept the property clean and never had complaints from neighbours. When it came to refunding our deposit, they took 2/3 of it off us as there were "bits of dust" on the carpet even though we had the house professionally cleaned the day before

4 Apr 2012Hi there, sounds like some very bad experiences with these people. Would be interested to hear as to how this was resolved? Did you take legal action or did you relinquish your deposit?

We took a 6 month rental agreement with ben daniels and found out after 2 months, when we contacted them about a boiler problem, that they had given our deposit over to the landlord and that we had to deal with him directly because it was no longer their problem, they weren't managing the property ...
