Benham and Reeves is by far the worst estate agent I've had to deal with. The only good negotiator they had left half way through our tenancy leaving nothing but nightmares to deal with. They call and bombard you with emails when they want something like a viewing etc. but when you try to contact them its nothing but pain especially their vacation and deposit admin, William Clark. Purposefully ignores emails which majorly delayed the return of the deposit and rent refund (paid rent up front) which is stressful to say the least. Having managed to get hold of someone and some correspondence but rent refund calculated such that they pay you less (taking advantage of differing amount of days in a month) and gives no explanation as to why that method is used apart from 'thats how we do it'. Been over a month since leaving and still no sign of deposit being returned, even landlord is chasing them up but not heard anything. Absolutely terrible, doing all this chasing up is wasting my time and money. Avoid at all costs if you are going to rent, can't comment on buying/selling. Better off finding a different house with different agent. Cannot comprehend why they are seemingly so successful. Perhaps they keep hold of the money in order to profit or hope that tenants don't dispute since it takes so much time.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Fire everyone and hire new staff.

Dealing with the process when tenants vacate is very important to us as we understand how annoying it is not to receive back monies belonging to you. Therefore we have our own long standing, dedicated End of Tenancy team who solely deal with refund of deposits. We have had so many comments form tenants and landlords alike complimenting us on how much more efficient we are than other agents as deposits are returned so quickly. 17 Aug 2013The 'dedicated' end of tenancy team who ignores me, not very helpful at all. Unfortunately, it appears that all contact I have tried to make so far about resolving a complaint have been ignored, to staff at the high street kensington office and head office. Couldn't seem to reach anyone by phone either.

This letting agency is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. They should be reported to trading standards for the excessive charges that they place on letting the property.
