Good Afternoon, in regard to your son's deposit, we had been made aware that damage had been caused to the wall in the bedroom, your son advised us that he had spoken with a plasterer to rectify the damage, as the landlord had his decorator in the property at the time there were crossed wires with who your son had instructed to complete the work. When we checked with your son on who exactly was carrying out the work, we had no reply to this email. Your son’s tenancy was due to end imminently and upon checkout it was clear the works carried out were to an unsatisfactory quality. I spoke with yourself on the telephone to discuss the works that had been carried out where you advised you had paid for the work to be carried out which we expressed our shock to hear that a qualified contractor had charged you the amount that they did to complete the work. I then spoke with the contractor on your behalf who you instructed who advised he left your son with the information that additional works would need to be carried out such as sanding down and repainting which would be completed by your son. We then received a telephone call from your partner asking permission to revisit the property to repair what had been completed by your contractor, which ourselves and the landlord agreed to do. Your son was allowed back into the property and unfortunately the wall was still not in the condition it was in upon move in date and the landlord was not happy with the outcome. I spoke with your partner after they had attended, and he also agreed the original works that were carried out were unsatisfactory. I advised the landlord would like to still proceed with reclaiming the costs to instruct a contractor to fix the wall and advised your son would be able to submit his evidence to support his claim and the DPS would make the final decision. the notification we had through from the DPS was that the landlord won the dispute with the deposit scheme from evidence submitted. I am sorry you feel upset with the outcome however I feel your comments about us lying are unfounded and we have communicated with all parties during this process. Kind Regards Lydia Downton
