Sandersons agency colluded against us with our landlord to falsely accuse us of 18k in damages. They stole our deposit, and threatened us with legal action and completely ignored the terms of the contract and refused to answer our emails. I highly recommend against using the agency, and if I could do it alll over again I would hire the best solicitor to expose them of their foul and fraudulent practices in court. The head of Sandersons, Matthew Manowski, fraudulently tried to waive the agreements of legally enforceable contracts because (and this is a real quote from him), he “didn’t want to lose the landlord and his rich friends as a client”. There were damages and we of course accepted those, but they charged us 400£ to depose garbage, and tried to charge us to completely renovate the apartment for things that had not even been listed on the deposit. They charged us 650£ to replace a cracked mirror that had been cracked from the beginning, even in the video they had sent us of the flat before we moved in. They are cheaters and should be barred from renting to students, or anyone really. We had paid them a 10% fee and they acted against duty of care to please their client, and not to act fairly like the contract stipulated. They also ignored terms of the contract and tried to strongarm us into paying ridiculous fees for minor damages, in order to appease their client whom they didn’t want to lose. They told us the apartment was in unrentable condition and refused to answer our emails so we would be liable to paying the rent for the apartment when they could not even be bothered to respond. Meanwhile they had listed the apartment on Rightmove (with intent to defraud a new potential tenant, as the apartment was in “unrentable condition” or to defraud us, which they did do). All in all, Sandersons is not a reputable agency, and actively defrauds students (and I am seeing a lot of this on this platform). To be more specific, their managing director Matthew Manowski is a scumbag and should have his real estate licence revoked.
