I write this review as a potential buyer regarding a property that Webbs listed last week. The house was listed on Tuesday evening and I enquired via email and completed their online registration for immediately. As I was in a strong position I asked to view asap. I received no phone call from Webbs the next morning so called them and booked in the viewing for that evening, so far so good. On viewing the property I was made aware there was lots of interest which, given the way the market is at present is understandable. The problems started when I rang to enquire about making an offer. I specifically asked about what their/the Vendors strategy would be about offers as I was keen to secure the property. They advised that if I made an offer that was too low then I would be given the opportunity to increase it. I advised that I would speak to my Partner and ask him to call them later. When he called later on the same day he was told that it was "one chance" and to put forward our best and final offer, which we did, considerably over the asking price. We were then asked for our full information, ID, Mortgage Agreement, proof of deposit etc which was provided that afternoon. Having not heard anything all day Friday we chased and were told to expect a call back. We eventually heard 4/5pm that we had been unsuccessful, no reason given, very short and abrupt phone call. Whilst I guess this may seem as we are "bitter" about losing out on the house I do understand that the market is hard for buyers. My opinion is that they marketed this property for less than what it was truly worth to get people into a bidding war, however, they then say that they don't want to get into a bidding war. The way they have handled this is terrible and whilst we may be a buyer now we are also local and have sold a property previously and will have another one to sell at a later date. I can safely say that I would not use you as a seller due to the way you treat your buyers. I would advise you that in future, tell buyers the truth, be consistent and don't try marketing tactics that alienate potential future sellers.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
