I was with Zebra lets nottingham for the last year as i had been doing my second year of uni from UoN. Let me just say I had worst experience ever. I was at the 54 Albert Grove property with 2 other flatmates. Initially when we got the house, all the lights and the bulbs were fused off. They barely used to work and when we complained we got told off saying if needed to fix it we could buy our own new bulbs. Second, the radiator in the 2nd room never worked and so we were given a smaller radiator, which barely provided as much warmth, whilst also jacking up the same if not more amount of electricity bill. A lot of the drawers in the kitchen were either broken or just did not open and we were even given a broken sofa for the first room. Then the pandemic happened and while a lot of our friends with other letting agencies were able to get out of their contracts early, Zebra lets didn’t help us at all. In fact, when the tenancy ended a week ago, they slammed us with a £200 cleaning bill from our deposit saying the house was filthy and they cleaned every crevice of the house. While I understand that the house required cleaning and so did my flatmates, none of us understood the need for a £200 cleaning bill because any cleaner in Nottingham would charge £7-£10 an hour for cleaning maximum £15. Unless there were approximately 25 hours of cleaning required none of us understood the bill and so we wrote a very polite email saying that the pandemic has anyway been very hard on us specially because 2 of us in the house were international students and with uni fees not decreasing and the economy going to hell it was very hard. And so we requested them to revise the cleaning bill. We received back an insanely rude email telling us off (i will attach the screenshot) and with already extra bills to pay all of our deposit went into bills and we practically received no money back. Also, when we were signing onto the property (bills inclusive) we were told we would probably end up saving some £££ because our quota for bills including broadband was £1900 approx. That was not the case. We had vacated the property in march due to the pandemic and post that we still received huge electricity and gas bills and we were told we had exceeded the budget (which is very weird considering the budget was £1900 and nobody had occupied the property since march till the end of tenancy). Another thing was we were basically pushed out of the house. The initial contract we signed said that our tenancy ended 14th September whereas we were continuously told through emails and phone calls to ensure to evacuate the property by 31st of August. This is a horrible letting agency. The people have no manners don’t help out their tenants whatsoever and instead stick us with huge bills just to earn a pretty penny. Another one of my friends just signed with them and he hasn’t even started his tenancy yet is already complaining how they have messed up his contract and isn’t even sure now if he’ll get a house.
