We viewed our dream property in October last year in Ascot, nr Sunningdale. After some toing and froing we were delighted to have our offer accepted. A letter was sent by Chancellors on 5th November 2019 accepting in principle our offer and a completion date at the end of March 2020 was agreed (due to my wife's pregnancy). At the beginning of January 2020, we saw online the property was under offer (assumed this was us) but to our horror have subsequently learnt from Chancellors this was a counteroffer and the property is being sold to somebody else. We were never contacted about another party offering more, nobody in the business kept us informed about the property or even considered our position. This was so unprofessional, and they appeared so unconcerned when explaining our situation. Over the Christmas period we have been painting our own property, packing up boxes, borrowing money off relatives to realise the dream move. We were informed that the senior sales negotiator at Chancellors has suddenly left the business. No plan was put into place after his departure and it appears we have missed out. In order to buy this property we've placed our own property on the market, plus two buy to let flats (receiving no income for these due to selling them). Mortgages still needed to be paid. There was no sympathy or understanding over the phone or in person at the branch. Not even an apology or suggestion on how to move forward. We recommend that people stay well clear of Chancellors. We had also experienced a very bad attitude at the Chancellors branch in Camberley and would strongly recommend people use alternative estate agents. I will be sharing my story with all friends, family members and anybody who will listen, so they don't go through a similar experience with this untrustworthy business.
