I would like to make it clear that this review is directed more at Sequence than William H Brown...though they were also pretty rubbish. I think it is fair to say that most letting agents are pretty bad, however, Sequence is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I won't go into the full list so let's just hit a few of the greatest hits from the 2 years I rented from them. 1. Attempted to retroactively increase my rent - Upon signing a new contract with an increase of £20 per month (which I had no issue with) I noticed that they had had the initial conversation with my landlord 3 months previously. In that time they had never discussed it with me. They had then proceeded to backdate the new contract by 3 months and attempted to get me to leave the date section blank claiming 'that is just what we do' on confrontation it became obvious that they were going to try and backdate my signing too and then claim the 'missing' £60...they never got that money. 2. Terrible response time - After our oven broke it took 3 weeks to get it repaired, it then broke another 2 times each taking at least 2 weeks to get repaired until it was finally replaced. 3. Zero communication - Eventually, we got to know our landlord directly and it became very obvious that they had attempted to play us against each other on several occasions. 4. Zero notice inspections - Speaks for itself, on several occasions they just arrived at the door. One of these times was to get the house evaluated for a remortgaging. 5. Inventory Reporting - When moving into the property we performed a number of updates on the inventory of things that had been missed off (patchy paintwork in rooms etc) Upon moving out when the leaving inspection was done we were blamed for these things, even though we had mentioned them. Clearly the original inventory was used for the moving out inspection and not the updated version. Upon questioning this I was told "They would forward the new version to my landlord if they felt it was needed"...this obviously never happened and though I would agree some of my deposit should have been withheld (I didnot professionally clean carpets) a much greater share was lost because of their actions. 6. It took almost 3 months for the return of our deposit. Basically, this company are scum and if you can avoid dealing with them I would advise that you do.

I waited in for the Senior Lettings Negotiator from the March branch. The appointment was at 2.00 p.m. At 2.15 p.m. I emailed the branch to find out if she was on her way. At 2.21, I was advised she was on her way. At 3.00 p.m. I telephoned the office to say she had still not arrived. The person I... Read Full Review

Renting my property through WH Brown was pretty much plain sailing. They took the hassle away from me and Danielle Thomson was particularly helpful getting back some money when my previous tenant was proving to be quite tricky. Very happy... Read Full Review
