Possibly the worst 30 days of my life trying to let a property from these $@~A!?!! Me and my Mrs unfortunately spotted a lovely house that was for rent via Archer Bassett in Coventry. After parting with £250 to reserve the property, we then started a one month paperwork process with the most incompetent, deceitful, petty, uncompromising (would not accept my current mortgage statement as a proof of address!) bunch of $@~A!?! I have ever met. After they allegedly didn't lose various items in the post from my guarantor (who wasn't even needed from their viewpoint!?!) we finally gave up! At this point they then started to beg !?!..... to get us to move in.... they asked if our guarantor (who lives 200 miles away) could drive up to Coventry to sign some irrelevant documents. (with only two hours left in the business day and before our supposed move in date). They kept £250 for their troubles, nice business if you can get it. p.s. i should have relied on my initial hunch and feeling about them..... (The front sliding entrance door of their main lettings property in Greyfriars road is broken and has to be manually opened!) If the estate agents front door needs repairing.....what is the likely-hood of getting prompt, hassle free emergency repairs done on the property that you rent from them? Steer clear of these, unless you want premature heart bypass surgery.

28 Jun 2012This isn't quite a fair reflection on what happened. We strongly disagree with your comment that we lost your guarantor's documents that were sent in the post. We treat all post with great care and we can confirm that we never received these documents in any of our offices so therefore we cannot be held accountable for the inadequacies of Royal Mail. We asked you to resupply these documents but you refused (we most certainly did not “beg†you to move in). Also the guarantor document is not “irrelevant†it is a legally binding covenant which supplements the tenancy agreement and therefore of great importance. There was a mix up over producing your mortgage statement as proof of address which was entirely our fault and for that we apologise but we did make it clear that you were more than welcome to move in (we had everything set in place for this) as long as the guarantor documents were supplied. We have already explained to you separately in writing regarding why your money was withheld so we will feel this is not the place to discuss it. Furthermore, although completely irrelevant, our automatic office doors are the responsibility of the landlord of the building who are arranging for them to be repaired/replaced.

21 Nov 2012Hmmmm.... this doesnt inspire. Agent doesnt agree with customer reviews, so offers validity to supposed errors of omission on said site. OOPS, Go figure! Further more as a professional agent liasing with landlords and tenants alike(door repairs), would appear not to be their forte, yet the very essence of their being. Hmmmm.... ironic.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
