We were shown the house by an agent from Spencers in Woodford Green who didn't even take us to the garden. The house was still undergoing major works but assured it would be ready by moving in day (in 5 days time). When we moved in the carpet was replaced with a cheap, brownish thin one with paint drippings all over, leaving a gap between floors and walls of about 2cm, which means chilly drafts in winter and creepy crawlies in summer, in places you could actually see outside!!! One of the bedroom has rising damp throughout the winter forcing us (3 of us!) to sleep in only one bedroom! Of course Freshwater was notified but with the excuse that the person managing the house retired, all was forgotten! We asked to replace the bathroom taps that don't work, after 10 months we are still waiting! In the garden (if we may call it so) the sewage wall will overflow with heavy rain and all the lovely stuff spreads onto the lawn! Lovely! The wallpaper looks like is being applied by an 8 year old and painted by nursery children. We were told the house was previously occupied by an old couple living there (and renting!!!!) for 60 years! When we asked the neighbours they told us that the previous tenant was at house arrests, social assistants visiting during the day, drug dealers at night, found also a BULLET under the carpet!!!! The house previously was used as an office, that explain the poor kitchen appliances and furniture! And the flooring in the kitchen is a major hazard, with holes where we stumble all the time! Definitely not suitable for young children. Definitely not suitable for ANYONE! Totally unsafe property run by totally uninterested people! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
What agent could do to change your mind?
they should provide a finished property where you can actually live in, not in a shelter fixed by cheap, dubious and amateur contractors whose only aim is to finish quickly using the cheapest materials around. totally painful!

27 Mar 2012The new person (a girl in her 20s) responsible for the house paid us a visit, we presented a list of things to do, she accused us to be PICKY, took the list, left without saying goodbye or if she will contact us. Had to call her in the office 4 days after, no surveyor was as yet contacted to come and take a look at the house. these people are chair-warmers and that's all! i would urge for an investigation on these dodgy money-grabbers.

31 May 2012there you go! after a lot of complaining, the person in charge of our property Mrs. Nicada Drayton of the Golders Green Branch, decided to kick us out! she never returned our calls or e-mails, we visited the office but she would not see us, she avoided us completely!!! these people are ANIMALS! our little girl will be out on the street soon because of the selfish childish ways of an unprofessional, shameful human being such as Mrs Nicada Drayton! totally evil. and Freshwater and their solicitor backed her up all the way. Freshwater is a joke. they never fixed anything in the house and after a year they kicked us out and room for the next idiots to move in! no human factor, just a number on the paybook, we are just a number.

24 Sept 2012why take the property if in the condition you described? And you have legal rights re eviction which as a plc Freshwater will have complied with. Something on this tale doesn't add up!!!

6 May 2013I feel for you, rotten company -told my daughter her flat would be refurbished but on the day it was a shambles, she had knowhere to go so had to accept she had her 6 month old son with her. She was still promised things would be sorted, wall paper fell down after a couple of days, mould started to show after a few days, garden full of rubish i.e shopping trolley, tyres and broken glass, there was a leak before xmas front room carpet ruined and floorboarsd in the kitchen ruined - they left her all over xmas with ruined carpet and no kitchen flooring and slugs comming in because its so damp, its still the same and her son is now nearly 3, leak from upstairs stains in her bathroom due to this. She has complained so much they have now decided to evict her and her small son instead of dealing with the issues and keeping a good tenant. I feel for anyone who rents from this company please dont do it your life will he hell.

Our block was managed by Freshwater from the 1960s onwards.
