I tried to leave 0 stars but 1 is the lowest! Tenants be VERY careful and avoid if possible. This goes for all the big high street agents to be honest but it's not easy when you don't have much choice. Expensive fees, VERY unprofessional and never do what they say they will or call back etc etc. Rude staff that treat you like a second class citizen if you're renting. Be extremely aware of all their masses of extra fees for doing nothing (eg tenancy renewal, 'final inspection' etc etc). Above all they will try and charge you for any little thing to avoid giving back your deposit. After a 2 week fight and cleaning every inch of the place for 2 days (including cutting hedges and cleaning the carpets) they still tried to charge me for things I had already done and many things that were there before. I got them down from about �750 to �250 but it should have been �0, I only agreed in the end as the stress was making me ill and it had already totally ruined the joy and excitement of finally buying our own home. They even tried to charge me for damage caused by 2 seriously dangerous incidents involving faults with the house and a second carpet clean! They also made the 'mistake' of not showing up at the agreed time for the final inspection meaning I could not be there after all to 'defend' anything; very convenient. The girl I spoke to was very rude saying I should have handed back the keys before 9am in town when we had agreed to meet at the property the same morning and even threatened to charge me with an extra day's rent. She said again and again 'it was in the letter' which I later found it wasn't. As if you would take the keys into town and then what, wait on the drive for 2 hours? Ridiculous. They had absolutely no humanity and no consideration of us with 3 moves going on at once, one involving me alone moving my mum 300 miles to Scotland. I took a full commentated video when I left of every inch of the house. I very strongly recommend you take a lot of photos and close ups of everything when you move in and move out as evidence. EVERYTHING! I could say a lot more but it's already taken days of my time and been so upsetting. Just another rich and powerful company taking advantage of people who don't have the time or money to stand up for their rights. Do not change the property or garden in any way if possible (as a renter you are obviously expected not to want a life at all or be worthy of one). They even tried to charge us about �100 for trimming a small bush and removing some flowers my 66 year old mother planted. I am pretty sure all the big agents are like this now in this disgusting industry which takes from the poorer to add further wealth to themselves and the landlords. All the fees have now been switched to the tenants whilst the landlords just get richer. I have been in maybe 10 rented properties with my various dogs and had always been returned every penny of my deposits very readily before every time which proves how unfair it all is now.

When we saw our house 2 1/2 months ago we said we wanted carpets cleaned bath pannel putting back on and the garden (which was an absolute tip!) clearing of all the junk rubble and weeds. Overall, I would rate the communication skills of Surelet staff as extremely poor. They are very slow and unhelpful when dealing with tenant problems/complaints. It took me over 6 months of repeated phone calls to obtain a full set of keys for my property and, on one occasion, the member of staff... Read Full Review
What agent could do to change your mind?
Been more efficient when dealing with problems (6 months is not a reasonable time scale!). Educated their staff regarding basic customer service and people skills. Had the courtesy to actually communicate with the customer. For example, by informing them when maintenance/servicing needed to be performed on their property rather than just giving the customers mobile number out to random tradesmen Being much more transparent and open about the nature and extent of their fees (in addition to reviewing whether the fee is actually reasonable in the first place!)
