I would never rent from this company again due to the simple fact that they absolutely go out of their way to hang on to the security deposit for as long as humanly possible, breaking every rule in the book to do so. Since moving out we have also had a demand for 'late payment' for the month we were no longer living there. We left the property concerned in perfect condition, shampooed all of the carpets, washed and rehung all of the curtains, and spent an entire day cleaning and repainting all of the radiators. The check out inventory was done the day after we moved out (28th October). I called the following week to enquire about the deposit and was told rather rudely that 'it's only Wednesday and we only got the report back on Friday'. I called a couple more times that week getting fobbed off both times. It was only when I called 10 days after moving out that the woman said 'it hasn't been ten days...I don't make it ten days' and proceeded to count back days as though I was a primary school child, before stating 'oh! It has been ten days, doesn't time fly!' She then told me that it was the landlord that I needed to speak to, something I could easily have been told the week prior to save myself some hassle! I sent a text to the landlord, who simply replied he would sort it ASAP, and the next day was told that he had signed the deposit release form, but that as head office weren't open at weekends, I would have to call the office on Monday morning. I did that, and was told that due to security reasons I couldn't give my bank details over the phone, but had to send them in a text (?)! I duly sent a text, heard nothing back, waited two more days, called to find out what the delay was, and was told the woman I needed to speak to was out of the office (didn't believe that as I was first told she was going to get her). Then I was told apparently it can take 5-7 WORKING DAYS to transfer the deposit (using I assume some form of carrier pigeon based transit). I was not told this in the original conversation about getting my money back.
This means that it is now going to be at least 3 weeks, if not 4, before we receive our deposit back. We have paid our rent on time every single month for two years, and I think it's only right to be extended the same sort of courtesy. Absolutely appalled, would not trust this company as far as I could throw them, and I'm still not convinced I will actually get my deposit back. Don't go near them, con artists!
