We have been tenants for almost 4 years in a block of flat managed by YL. 2 years from that we had a landlord who managed his own flat (repairs etc). The following 2 years our apartment was managed by YL, every time we had an issue it took them at least 2 weeks to resolve it and even then we had to chase them on a daily basis. The cherry on the top was when we wanted to move out. As we were on a monthly rolling contract we have asked to move out on a different date as our usual monthly billing date, thinking that this will be OK and we will just pay all bills and rent up to the date when we leave. They, of course didn't allow this. We have raised this issue with our landlord who was happy for us to stay as long as we needed. Even at his request they didn't allow us to leave when we wanted. They gave us 2 options - move out by the end of our usual monthly billing date or pay another full month of rent, bills and we can leave anytime. We only needed 1 week from our usual monthly billing date, but to pay an extra full month of rent, bills only for 1 week of stay-is absolutely ridiculous! They have put us into a very difficult situation and they even lied to our landlord saying that they were not aware of this situation. After a chat with our landlord we have paid another full month of rent, bills etc and made a private deal with him, who refunded us for over 3 weeks of rent and bills. After this issue the landlord decided to end his contract with them and manage his apartment privately. As I lived in the same block of flat for long I am well aware what kind of other issues people had with them and many of them were a lot more serious and frustrating than ours. I don't recommend them at all.

The company now operates block management services under Compass Block Management. I would not recommend this company on the basis that when something goes wrong they take too long to effect repairs and give no satisfactory response to complaints.

Is a very bad letting agent. They take off my house deposit when I leave. They charge me £1,000 for cleaning even I had clean myself and ask professional cleaning to clean.

Very poor service to us as tenants. The flat was very dirty when we moved in (we provided photos as proof) although they insist that we have to get professional cleaners in when we move out. They are slow and unresponsive to maintenance queries, including smoke alarm problems and water leaks, which are bad for both tenants and landlords. Poor service when new parking permits were issued, including lack of communication. I will be contacting our landlord when we move out to advise they may want to reconsider using them as an agent.

I have rented two different properties now through these agents and found their service is more than satisfactory, people complaining about maintenance issues not being resolved are unaware of the issues when trying to get the go ahead from Landlords for more expensive jobs.
When it counts, they are very helpful and always a friendly staff member on the other end of the phone, and I found their fees self explanatory as these are explained on their Letting requirement sheet that they provide to you as regulations state this is required.
In property number 2 in the JQ now, and I'm sure I'll rent through them again when I grow out of this property.

Keep tenants informed without being chased, recruit employees with a passion for service and reduce their costs due to their incredibly poor service that is offered.

York Laurent are the most horrendous agency I have ever used, not only are their charges extortinate: admin fee, credit reference fee and an additional itinerary fee for good measure! But to top it all off god forbid anything go wrong as a response of any use will take a minimum of a month even the simple task of fitting a shower seal required 3 engineers to visit and wrong parts to be ordered. York Laurent also make the over zealous claim on their maintainence bounce back email that 'emergency issues' will be resolved within 48 hours - it took 3 weeks to source and resolve a leak, we still have had warped floor boards for the past 4 months as a result of this. We have found maintaincence men have simply let themselves in to our empty flat without consent and when we did complain we were met with the 'we just sub contract work' response and 'we cannot take any ownership of the problem', the laugh of our complaint was we had no offer of compensation, no apology and the grammar was shocking to say the least for a formal complaint response. I have not dealt with a single person from York Laurent of any use and I would strongly avoid using them ever again.

I was very happy with the way York Laurent treated me. Luke showed me round a few properties, which were all very suitable to what I needed. Once I had paid my admin fee, Judy was more than accommodating in helping me with my referencing and the whole (VERY STRESSFUL) move in process. Throughout my tenancy I had various maintenance issues (which you expect with a property that isn't brand new). Maintenance dealt with this promptly and professionally, and my Landlord wasn't the most helpful as he was slow to respond, but YL kept me updated. A thoroughly enjoyable experience so far and I would definitely recommend!

[[EDIT ORIGINAL START]] The agents initially fell over themselves to accommodate our requirements, but as soon as we signed on the dotted line, verbal agreements and assurances via email seemed to count for nothing. It took York Laurent 3 weeks longer than promised to get us into our new flat, leaving us homeless for 1.5 weeks with nowhere to store our belongings. The agent made no admission of wrong-doing and no compensation was offered. After pursuing the management, we were refunded a portion of our administration fee as a 'good will gesture' (but not before receiving cryptic and threatening text messages from the individual agent who had cocked up in the first place). If this wasn't enough, now we are living in the property they manage, they take on average 2 months to sort out minor maintenance issues. It is because I have just contacted them for the 4th time regarding our broken radiator that I felt compelled to write this! Dishonest and unprofessional. AVOID!! [[EDIT ORIGINAL END]]
