Sky high, quoted pre vat and left check in fee out. Highest fees we have ever paid.

I wish I had known of this website when I rented a property through Vickerys in April 2012 (can be proved despite length of time). We met Chris at the property for a viewing, he turned up bang on time, after us, wearing gym attire, this should have been a clue as to the level of professionalism but we overlooked it. We decided to take the property and asked him outright, 'what figure will we have to pay to move in here?' At that point we expected the full. list of fees, deposit, etc etc. Being that he was the agent for the property he should know to the penny, however we got ums and erms, it's about £300 to £400 for the referencing, month and a half deposit, looking at about £500 I imagine. At our previous property we had never been charged a check in so were unaware of the cost, Chris failed to add that to his list, he also failed to tell us that his quotes were pre vat prices !!! I work in finance and we deal with pre vat prices as we get the vat back, when dealing with a customer who isn't going to be claiming the vat back, you give the full amount...unless you think your fees are a rip off? The actual figure was £705 (and that was in 2012, lord knows what they are now?!) We paid the referencing etc, then got a bill for deposit, rent upfront and a check in. The check in was a shock to us, so I queried why we weren't told when asking, to which he basically replied ' look, do you want the property or not?' Given that removals were booked, everything else was paid, notice was served on our old property, services were arranged, we were hardly going to say no?? My Mum worked in a more upmarket agents in Windsor and they looked over all the emails etc from Vickerys and even got the law books out, we had to beg them not to call Vickerys and give them a piece of they minds about giving agents a bad name, they advised us legally that we had a case for the Ombudsman. We didn't proceed, purely because Chris had caused us so much stress at an already stressful time, that we just wanted it over, and for the sake of £195.83 +vat it wasn't worth the added stress. When we moved in they weren't much better, in the end I had a relationship with the landlord directly, she hated them as much as I did. While this was 7 years ago now, he caused us so much stress, and left such a lasting impression of agents that I am compelled to leave this review as I see I'm not alone. Thankfully we have never dealt with anyone else this shoddy again, and when looking at property, the moment the Vickery logo appears, it's a bit NO from us.

We did not finalize a deal but she was very informative. No hidden agenda here. Before even we ask for it she took us through the full list of fees highlighting potential additions etc. Fees sounded a bit on the higher end but I think it is well worth the quality of service provided.

We have been lookign for a decent family house within our budget aroudn good schools for a while now. Having dealt with a variety of estate agents / negotiators we have a bit of an idea about the average quality of professionalism and service we would be getting. There was nothing to change the negative experience we have built over the last couple of months. Until we have met Mrs. Comeau from Vickery & Co that is.
What do you need, what would you need as a tenant from an estate agent? Us, basically and understanding of what we need and the willingness to match something from their portfolio to that. Simple! Chantal, was very professional yet approachable and friendly in her dealings. Even though we had to cancel our viewing she was very supportive and helpful during this painful transition process (of moving between countries). She not only listened but also understood our needs and came up with several solutions to help us. In the end she got us the viewing for the furnished rental property (albeit fear that dogs might not be allowed) and it was us who let her down. I would like to thank Vickery & Co. for employing her and I hope they know what a real gem she is. Thank you Chantal for your help and great support. Yoru professionalism and decent character should be an inspuration for all.

Worst experience ever. On move in check noticed several things which hasnt been logged. We logged it. At the end of tennancy Vickery & Co send me a paper which states that they claim 300 pounds for damages i never done, which includes these things i mentioned on check in. Lots of lies, lack and very slow communication, poor property maintenance. So wouldn't recommend this estate agent to anyone, don't be disappointed, be aware. The professionals they use to do check are absolutely rude and not qualified. In my report they printed photos of sort of property I've never seen before, report is full of mistakes and wrong information. Think twice before use their service.
