I've bought, sold, rented and let countless properties in my nearly 50 years and have been forthunate to have encountered some excellent agents, so to say Owen Lyons is the best is no small thing! I can't recommend them enough. Their communication is superb, their knowledge comprehensive and their local network invaluable. They have helped us negotiate a number of varied issues with properties, tenants, leases and buyers and I dread to think what would have happened without their expertise!

Overall the experience of purchasing a property through Owen Lyon’s was ok. Alex was a great help and went over and above to help move things along - with what was a very long and difficult chain. The other people I spoke to were fine also.
HOWEVER, Colin Owen’s (presumably the founder of the company given the name) was incredibly rude to me and my partner. I remained calm and polite during the call but as soon as Colin heard something he didn’t like the sound of, he through a tantrum. He put the phone down on me and when my partner called afterwards, he did the same to him. He said “if you don’t like it, take your business elsewhere”. That’s all well and good Colin, but when you’re six months into a purchase, consumers tend to have invested a lot of time and effort. So a suggestion to “take your business elsewhere” is about as dumb as it sounds. Especially when it’s coming from the founder.
Colin let his whole team down that day, especially Alex who’d worked hard to build trust and a rapport with us. Had Colin behaved professionally I would’ve given this review four or five stars AND, more importantly, used Owen Lyon’s if/when I come to sell the house I just purchased.
Our vendors said they’d had similar experiences with Colin so it seems his tantrums are a fairly regular thing.
Such a shame really as he’s letting the rest of his team down, who were all really helpful.

I have recently sold a property in the Grays area, I received a first class service and it sold very quickly. Living 250 miles away from the property I left everything to them to handle, I was kept well informed at every stage from the viewings right through to completion. Cant speak highly enough... I was a tenant in a flat with owen lyons when the shower stop working. I reported in several ocassions and after a month and saying i wanted to vacant the property they start acting and sending people to have a look at it. The staff wasnt helpful and i was even told by Claire there was water in the property, but from the woman point of view it is a bit unvelieble to say you can wash a long hair under the sink. I had to give my notice1 for two months even the council told me they should let me vacant the property as the mistake was coming from them. The shower was never fixed before i left the property, so during two momths i had to go to the gym to have shower!!! After writting a notice, few days later i receveid an email asking me if i was going ahead with vacating the property, which obsviously i was. When I was about to move in to my new property, the company dealing with the references call me to inform me I couldnt move in as I never handle in any notice according to Owen Lyons. Fourtounatly, i had the email sent and all was sorted. Today I got a phone call from Essex water and surprise, surprise, the state agent told them i moved out 10 days after of my notice period. Can you believe that? On top i should be paying for them!!! I had been renting for some many years and i never had such a bad experience with any landlord or state agent. Stay away from them, because once the problems come up they just give you excuses and try blaming you for everything. Terrific costumer service!!!
