AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID My girlfriend is a landlord and rent two properties out with the joke of an organisation. Despite being instructed this company have paid her rents into the incorrect account for 3 months costing her over £7000 in lost revenue. When she complained she was told to stop making a fuss and that it would all be ok next month. Next month does not get her back the £7000 in lost revenue. They are employed to collect rent and cannot even do that simple task. They take their fees up front to make sure they get paid asap into the tenancy and then simply DO NOT GIVE A DAMN afterwards. AVOID AVOID AVOID

It really is very rare in todays business world to come across such shockingly bad service from an estate agency. Sadly the Surbiton Branch of Chancellors embodies every nightmare story you could imagine. They consistently lied, not just exaggeratted but plain lied, they did not communicate with us, we had to chase them constantly to which they would respond days later-btw guys we are the clients! On top of that they were rude and belligerent. Worst of all they were could not do their job, failed to introduce interested parties ( who contacted us privately after calling Chancellors twice with no call back and then actually going into the office to be told there was no one available to show the property). All in all an utter shambles. We finally sacked them and i would avoid these unprofessional, rude and dishonest company at all costs.

Never gonna be great paying fees but we hadn't minded to pay as we liked the estate agents to begin with.

Estate agents refused to return a set of keys that we lent to them to do a viewing meaning my partner was refused access to the property and had to sleep at a friends house as I had to leave to go out of town and would be returning when she wasn't there. Ryan was literally the rudest person I think I've ever encountered and was arguing down the phone that they don't need to return the keys now they have them... literally what!? I was in tears by the end of the phone call as it was a massive inconvenience and caused us so much stress. Finally got the keys back and then threatened that we had refused access to the property for viewings... we had not! Infact we had been more than accommodating at this point, my partner had driven a massive detour to drop the keys off out of hours so they could do a viewing.

Our experience with chancellors Surbiton branch had been a total nightmare! First of all Ryan had lid to us about a property we wanted to buy to get us sign up, and once we sign up we didn't hear from them for over a month! When we chased the office for an update and marketing information, they didn't come back to us even though we have tried to call them many times during the week. There has been only one viewings booked, and the staff didn't show up on time so we practically did the viewing ourselves. There has been an number of occasions they have booked viewings but forgot to cancel them, so we prepared our property and no one showed up. A total disaster experience and their manager Ryan is lying to us throughout. Please spread the word and avoid them!

Lying, bullying, general harassment and unprofessional behaviour seem to be Ryan Powers' method of estate agency. He called constantly, demanding answers to questions there is no way I would know and refusing to call any of the other professionals involved. My solicitor finally instructed me not to take any more of his calls and when she tried to speak to him, he hung up on her! He continually tried to frustrate the sale, which I believe is against the ethics of estate agency work and made my life a misery. Sadly this behaviour appears to be condoned by the company as the response to my complaints were that they were sorry for the inconvenience caused but it was done in my best interests! Everything that gives Estate Agents a bad name can be found here.

My advice for the agents is to be honest as this is not a good sign for someone looking to invest and spend large amounts of money.
I would not recommend this company for buying/selling/renting. Looking at the other reviews on here, it is clear that this was not just one time.

No more excessive than any other agents I have seen but certainly very high when compared to service levels.

Very poor. Misled from day 1 with a rental increase clause being included in the tenancy agreement that we were not made aware of. Only came to light once all R.E.M. location plans were in effect and they had us over a barrel. They managed the property as well and anything that needed looking at took much longer to resolve than it should - one example being the fridge freezer failing and the contents having to be binned. When the landlord decided to sell the property, our details and keys were passed to the selling agents (a different estate agent which tells its own story) without our knowledge or consent. All in all very poor.

Terrible estate agent! Stay away from them. They were misleading me to sign a sole agent agreement regardless who sell it at the end, they will get commission. They said they would agree joint agents then when I made that request, they simply told me I would need to stick with sole agent and they would get their commission!! They are unprofessional, unethical, and disgrace! Stay away from this agent!

What agent could do to change your mind?
They gave me the wrong information, I should pay for an satisfying service although I was unsatisfied with situations from the beginning. I will pay the check out fees as I am aware that agency is charging these and I will not hesitate to pay them straight away after the situation has been resolved.

Both the landlord and myself have been disgusted at Chancellors' inability to carry out basic tasks or respond to requests. They ignore emails, it typically takes several reminders before an inevitably unsatisfactory response is given.
I had overpaid my account (due to paying 5 months upfront - I had moved from abroad and there was no data for a credit check) and it took 2-3 months for them to resolve. During that process they never responded to my first mails, everything took at least one reminder. I sent them my view of the account with all payments and all charges listed, they were unable to provide me with a statement of my account for over 2 months!
I am now waiting for my deposit to be returned. I know from corresponding with the landlord that he has given the go-ahead to release it but they haven't done so and once again won't respond the emails.
This frustration is all with the South East property management team.
I would sooner live on the street than deal with this company in any capacity again.

We're very surprised Chancellors haven't joined your scheme - they like transparency "we pride ourselves on the transparency of the negotiations we enter into", but in fact they don't tell you all the important bits and are actually cheats and liars. Our first meeting at our property lasted well over an hour and we were totally charmed, won over and then tricked into signing a contract for 2% fees (which was never mentioned), a copy of which they didn't produce until we started their complaints procedure! We pulled out of the sale when we discovered their fees, but continued when told, on 2 separate occasions, they would charge 1%. Unfortunately, not dreaming they would lie and believing their word, we did't get it in writing. We were strung along 'til exchange, when they sent invoice for 2%. Complained, but told verbal negotiations are "subject to contract, meaning they are superseded by contract", translation: once they've got your signature they can say whatever they like to keep you happy, knowing they won't have to keep their word because they have the security of the signed contract. We wrote directly to the MD, but he has never replied to our letter, not even to acknowledge receipt. They've had £13,000 of our hard earned money for doing nothing (apart from deceive us), we sold to the first viewers for asking price! We did any chasing of solicitors, etc, ourselves, but they "worked really hard to make us mortgage free"! We are utterly shocked, appalled, disgusted and frustrated at our treatment (and broke) and can't do anything about it because we put our complete faith and trust in them and signed without reading the contract fully. Nothing else that happened (ie the deception, lies, mis-selling) seems to count. BEWARE of Chancellors tricksters/con-artists. PLEASE don't use them, they really don't deserve to be in business. We would really love to take this further, but can't afford to, so will rely on people not using them, thereby forcing them to SHUT DOWN.
