Recently sold our house through Anthony Martin (Locksbottom). Very dissappointed as standard of customer service really dropped after having been on the market for a number of months. Communication was near non-existent once we were under offer. We had to call regularly and took up the role of chasing up other parties in the chain ourselves as this wasn't being done.
We were also present for some of the viewings which were done by the agents in which misinformation was given to the prospective buyers and often the agent had never been to the property before and had done no research prior to arrival. However, the agent often left viewings to us as they had no-one available or arranged viewings for after their office hours. They were also poor at receiving and providing us with feedback from the viewings.
Once the house was sold Anthony Martin left the work to other agents in the chain. The other agents found it easier to contact us directly as messages weren't being passed to us. We did not receive any communication from Anthony Martin on completion day. This lead to confusion around handing over of keys and other issues.
Anthony Martin didn't complete basic checks on prospective buyers meaning we were given wrong information about the length and strength of their chain and the amount of deposit they had available. We were expected on exchange day to find a further £2,000 that day to make up our buyers deposit shortfall.
We tried to give staff some feedback as to what we felt could have been done better but they got very defensive and came up with excuses. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and nice but they were not helpful in the moving process which added a lot of unecessary confusion and stress.
