We called the agent to view a property, only to be told that the property was now 10k more expensive than it was listed on Rightmove. We told the agent that we didn't want to see the property unless it was being offered at the price on Rightmove. This was agreed (albeit we were told that this was going to be the firm price, no negotiating) and we viewed the house. We arranged a second viewing for the following weekend- not even 30 minutes into our second viewing, another couple showed up to have a first viewing. The owners told us the next viewing had arrived, so we left. (Funny enough, by the time we got to our car, this other couple was leaving.) When the agent called to find out how it went, we told him that we didn't have time to see it, as other people showed up. In a snarky pleased with himself tone, the agent said that the owner has lots of interest in the property, it was a bank holiday weekend and they wanted to get on with their weekend and didn't have the time to be showing their house.
Say what? Is this supposed to be a high pressure sales tactic? I'm sorry, but most (sane) people don't buy a 280K property at the drop of a dime. And, if you don't have time to show a house, then don't put it on the market. The estate agent completely wasted our time. And we are cash buyers!
I'm not at all surprised that this house was back on the market because its previous sale had fallen through. Totally dodgy behavior = lost sales.
