We booked viewing as property shown on advert was "available now"... On viewing we quickly found out this was not the case. Property still needed carpets/flooring fitting. We were assured that this will be ready for us to move in just before Xmas. We decided to proceed with holding deposit BECAUSE we were made to think the flat WILL be ready on time. That was beginning of December. Sent all paperwork through - extra payslips, extra id's - just to be sure everything is ok- to find out after about 3 days that guy that was apparently dealing with our case went on annual leave for 10days. Rang the office - no one knew what i was about when i asked about our property... I asked what happen IF the property in NOT READY at 15days after paying holding fee and been told "they will have to check" what in that situation - 2 days later we were told we didn't pass the checks. Because of this MISS ADVERTISING we've lost money! I would have never gone to even see it IF i knew it's not available now as advert said on the website.

I reiterate Annoyeds comments in that I had exactly the same terrible experience from Acquire. Just to cut a long story short I rented a property and reported repair Boiler for No Hot water, reports were logged and then they have taken 17 days to fix the issue during peak winter (december & january without hot water), i have health issue and suffered a lot, they have offered me a composition for 17 days, after fixing the issue they have sent long story and declined the composition. All in all it's been a very stressful and terrible experience and I will never recommend or use Acquire again!

We reiterate Annoyeds comments in that we have had exactly the same terrible experience from Acquire. Just to cut a long story short we rented a property and had nothing but issue after issue. Maintenance reports were logged and then closed with nothing being done, the house was damp with walls flaking off to the day we moved out all through my pregnancy and with our newborn too. Our property manager was not at all helpful to us and always sided with the landlord, regularly falsifying inspection reports, calling us liars to make her job easier and now we're facing more issues from check out over our deposit as they want to keep it for failure to clean when the house was cleaner than when we moved in. We had to resort to recording inspection meetings as details were amended in the reports and conversations were denied after the checks were done. All in all it's been a very stressful and terrible experience and I will never recommend or use Acquire again!

So I am settled into my lovely new house- all thanks to aquire. Especially Liam who has dealt with everything for me and ofcourse James who was at the property when I went to view it and again for a second viewing. It was my first time with a letting agent after I had an awful experience 4 years ago with another estate agent. Liam made me feel comfortable and ensured procedures were carried out promptly and professionally. I cannot thank aquire enough and the Landlady, for helping me made this house my home 😊

What agent could do to change your mind?
At least to show some respect and transparancy, If let was agreed about a property, state so, if not interested in a particular customer to mention the reason. If they are too busy to accomodate another customer, please say so. And over all, please do not take over good properties to just make them stagnant in the market, this is just unfair for everyone.

I called them several times, they always promise to call me back and they never do. I have even visited their office while in Burton ,for a viewing with another agent,but nothing happened as well. After reading reviews about them on this website, I am really thankful for not being stuck with them in a letting contract. Award winning 2013! for what? Hopefully those reviews will alert landlords of good properties not to hire them for letting or managing their properties.

What agent could do to change your mind?
- Communication between agents
- Answer emails and return phonecalls
- Follow up on maintenance problems
- Give warnings for flat checks
- Not charge such extortionate fees
- Return deposits promptly
- Learn how to speak to clients politely. Would much prefer honesty to hostility and allegations if something has gone wrong.

I have never felt the need to write a review about anything until dealing with this company. Experience was so poor and stressful I feel I must share. Acquire were fine as letting agents as long as you wanted absolutely nothing from them. Maintenance issues were reported over and over again with a man coming to price up what needed fixing but nobody ever actually fixing these things (in over a year). Would not accept a rolling contract, even after 6 or 12 months so had to pay a £100+ renewal fee every time I wanted to stay. They have called round for flat inspections and showing prospective tenants round without warning. Emails will go unanswered completely unless you are enquiring about a property. They have claimed before that these have gone into junk or they have not received them. Can be very rude over the phone and there seems to be a lack of communication between any staff members with them denying conversations have happened, failing to record anything on the account and just downright rudeness. Have been in ongoing disputes with them about my deposit, maintenance, hidden charges and overall costumer service. The thing that really got my back up about these guys was that they have absolutely no problem calling their clients liars if it makes their job easier. Overall a terrible experience. Will go out of my way never to use them again.

What agent could do to change your mind?
By giving my deposit back on time, carry out property maintenance when told about a problem, some people just shouldn\'t be working in the public sector. Extremely poor customer service.

They still owe me £200 but as they know that it would cost me more in court costs, I am not expecting them to return my money. They are arrogant, their fees ie to renew a 6 month contract, and 'admin' fees are greedy and extortionate, I am happy to say that myself, friends and family will never be using this agent, and hopefully you won't be taken in by them either.

The team at acquire were brilliant, they were very attentive and helpful and met with my criteria. The agent who dealt with me was very helpful, i was having difficulty trying to procure a property for rent in the location i was looking, but thanks to the agent and staff at acquire they found me a very suitable property quickly and smoothly. I would definitely recommend acquire estate agency to anyone who is looking to rent or buy a property.

Lauren (Acquire) was very helpful and accomodating in the fact I work away so my viewing/s was done at the weekends at a time to suit me. The itinerary for the property is very thorough and nothing left out and I feel confident that if there is any issues at any time Lauren (Acquire) will be there to assist. All in all very happy.

Found a 2 bed property that we really liked so me and my partner decided to take it with the 2 kids. We were first told we would have to pay X amount for application fee, the deposit was £100 more than the rent and we would also have to pay 1 months rent up front, this came to around £1300 which we were willing to pay. We were given a date to move in so we gave 1 months notice on the property we were already in later to be told by Acquire that we couldn't move in on that date! When we finally arranged a date we went to get the keys for the property and were told as it was the 16th of the month we would have to pay the remainder of that month and the £550 month up front therefore we ended up trying to scrape together an extra half months rent on top of the £1300 we had already paid. The tenancy ran out in December 2012 but me and my partner wanted to stay until after Christmas at least, as we were told it would become a month rolling contract after that, turns out this was also wrong and we were given a letter saying we had to either pay £100 application fee and commit to another 6 month tenancy or we would be handed our notice. Sure enough we had to move out only to find that our deposit had not been protected even though I had been given a receipt and told it would be protected. When i wen't down to the burton branch of acquire I was greeted by a very rude arrogant over weight asian guy with an attitude problem who I assume was responsible for the pathetic excuse of an estate agent. He said that the deposit is protected it turns out there was a computer problem with the company who logged the deposit (TDS) he said he was also taking money out of the deposit for cleaners to clean the apartment when in my opinion wasn't needed, he then sarcastically told me to "run along son"!. I then rang back the TDS who told me the deposit had only been logged that day and the manager of acquire was trying to pull the wool over my eyes and that I should take him to court and he would be liable to pay three times the amount of the deposit. Sorry its abit of an essay but I hope people would read this and take my advice to AVOID ACQUIRE PROPERTIES at all costs. EditDelete

My deposit wasn't logged with the TDS either, and they wouldn't pay me my deposit back so had to take them to court where they were issued with a CCJ and got a column in the Burton...

Over 6 months after we stopped using them they are now using photos of our property to market someone elses property for rent on right move. They are only interested in fees and it suits them if tenants move on every 6 months as they get more fees. Beware!

Was in the property for nearly a year paying £495 a month.
Another expense was replacing the carpet as it was dirty which I had to pay for. In total, I lost 600 pound with no help what so ever from the estate agents.
This estate agent only seemed to be interested when money was involved and wouldn't help me when I was in need. Expensive application fees and wanted a Guarantor when I wanted to move in. At the expense of another 85 quid. If they did complete reference checks they would have realised that i had lived in 3 other houses with no complaints whats so ever.
