I had a full management 'service' from Taylors/Country wide. They initially where good, the set up was good with no problems. I received a call, which I just missed, about a month into the tenancy from CountryWide at 5.50pm of an evening. They left a voice mail stating that I had boiler problems with my property that had to be attended to and it was a matter of urgency. I called CountryWide back straight away with no answer and had to wait until the next day to contact them. When I eventually got through I asked them what the issue was, they didn't know. They then gave me my tenants number and suggested I call them myself to find out! I had to arrange a plumber and get the work carried out, which was a simply bleed of the system, which the plumber did free of charge! CountryWide then asked me to contact them when I had the work work carried out, to let them know the work was done. My tenant stated that it took a few days for the management company to react to the boiler issue, leaving them without hot water due to their delays. I decided to manage the property my self when the current tenancy ran out, 20-6-14, as I had to previously anyway! CountryWide wrote to me stating that the tenancy will expire on the 20-6-14 and that there would be a charge of £125(+VAT) for them to call my tenant regarding a renewal. I called him myself, as they had already given me their number, and asked them about renewing, total cost: 5min phone call @ 25p per minute. A business or rip of merchants!!?? I'm still waiting on deposit transfer to DPS over two weeks after the tenancy has ended (20-6-14). They stated that the tenancy now ends on the 29-7-14 and it will be up to two weeks transfer from that date. I pointed out their mistake on the 26-6-14, which they admitted to. Thinking that the deposit would be transferred from the 26th I checked my DPS account today, 5-7-14, still overdue! I contacted Taylors who replied stating that the tenancy now ends on the 20-7-14 and it will take up to two weeks for transfer from that date! I again pointed out their mistake which they admitted to. They said the transfer will now commence, I asked from what date....still awaiting reply!!
The fees where expensive for what they did and the poor 'after sales' service they gave. Odd charges appeared which they didn't explain to me when asked. I paid a lot of money for a very poor service.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
