Having undertaken 5 international moves - our experience with Robinson Relocations has been the most costly. Like the previous reviewer indicated - Ms. Durkin arrived with a ipad in hand with what can only be described as a scripted performance in which I was asked to watch their company's promo video. She then proceed around my 5 bedroom home, tapping furiously into her ipad and indicating that our household shipment would 'just' fit into a 40 foot container. To that end, I downside around 10% of our belongings and shipped another 15% back to my home country. Upon arrival of the crew - I was taken aback by their youth - but making no judgement, allowed them to proceed encouraging them to ask me if they had any questions, and reminding them that it should be a tight pack. I had many original boxes laid out next to the appliances to ensure good packing. On the first day they ran out of packing materials in the early afternoon, on the second day one crew member was out sick and they ran out of tape. On the third day - now quite far behind, I noticed that they were not taking apart furniture where needed and I spotted a couple of my 'original' boxes in the trash. They didn't fill voids with soft furnishings as I instructed, they just wrapped everything as fast as they could. On day two I made comment of my concerns to Tom Johnson who called from their offices. His response was a shut down, stating that all their staff are fully trained. On the final day they had to call in extra helpers who just wrapped everything in sight without thought. The container truck was 4 hours late, and they were loading in the dark. To our shock, they couldn't fit everything into the container. We were left having to pay for an additional shipment - and we had to literally give things away at the 11th hour. I would not recommend this company - the service they sold on their video; like packing your mattresses in cartons rather than plastic is pure fabrication. When I questioned this with Tom Johnston he said they don't do cartons anymore. The receiving company, unaware of our woes with Robinsons, comment on how poorly the items were packed. Not following conventional international packing standards - cartoon trays should have been put under much of our wood furniture to protect them better. As I unpacked one large box - it contained 12 cereal bowls and a mountain of packing material. The entire pack was anything but 'tight'. This move was costly because not only did we downside our belongings, pay for shipment of some of our belongs to our home country, but we also had to pay for the 'overage' shipment. Robinsons took no responsibility given the incidents sighted above - in fact, they profited from them!
