Absolutely terrible. Horrific organisation skills and completely at a loss when it comes to managing a property. They do not act as if they are part of the team of "landlord, tenant, estate agents" they act as their own entity trying to be involved in as little work as possible and blame either the tenant or landlord for issues which are their responsibility. Also they have gone through at least 3 female staff who all have no concern for how see through the glass walls are of the office and everyone can witness them constantly applying and reapplying makeup. None of the issues with the property have been fixed and when we as the tenant have had them fixed, claiming for expenses has been difficult. Would recommend to stay away from Martin and Co.

12 Nov 2014Unfortunately by leaving an anonymous review this person has not given us the opportunity to address the points they have raised specifically. It must be remembered that we have a duty of care to the tenant but ultimately the landlord is our client. We do not have a mandate to undertake expensive works without a landlord's consent and this can be frustrating for us and tenants at times. In extreme cases tenants have recourse via the local authority. We are members of the Association of Residential Letting Agents and have been members of the Ombudsman for Lettings scheme since we opened, years before membership of a redress scheme became a legal requirement. In our 5 years of trading there have been no complaints made. On the other hand, our business has grown from a team of 3 in 2009 to a team of 8 in 20014 and we are now one of the most successful letting agents in Croydon, so we must be doing something right.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
