We rented Sutherland Avenue 178, Maida Vale, London via Chesterton & Humberts during 2 years from June 2009 - July 2011. Whenever a disagreement with regards to the rented property would arise we were left to our own devices, with C&H taking the land lord's side regardless of the issue. And actually, as quite a few issues did arise, as the quality of the rented apartment was not on par with its rental fees - this was a real issue for us. No hot water in the kitchen, a noisy pump (which was even bothering the neighbours) providing only up to 10 minutes of shower time - not great, with a family of three - then lots of security and other quality issues that remained unsolved. Upon moving out, we were forced to pay lots and lots of money for issue we never considered our fault in the first place, ending up paying for entire walls to be repainted due to a small hole or crack in the paint work, which was there to begin with! Add to this plumbing does not work well, several leaks both from above and to the below floor, a draft in the apartment due to lack of isolation and cheap renovation work, and the temperature of half the apartment below 12 degrees celcius in winter due to insufficient heating, and you can imagine why we felt let down by the folks at C&H. Now, in 2013, TWO years later, I find this agency advertising the very same apartment we rented with OUR pictures from 2011! This is just misrepresentation! Upon contacting them several times, via their website and email, so as to ask them to take our pictures down (for which they got no approval from us in the first place - they just walked in when we were out and took pictures!), I got no answer until I sent an unfriendly email to the former landlord demanding they take this down. The answer: we have a right to misrepresent this property, we don't care, and you're on record for not getting a recommendation should you ever need one in the future. It is still for rent. So don't rent it, I would recommend. Also, I would strongly recommend not using this agency ever.
