Truly horrible experience of using LegalforLandlords for tenant referencing and rent guarantee insurances, specifically my interaction with their newly appointment Managing Director when trying to resolve a discrepancy of £65.53 apparently owed to them when closing down our account to move to another supplier. Despite politely and reasonably asking numerous staff members for an explanation on where the discrepancy has come from, her approach is to bully, threaten and send aggressive emails late at night with a very serious threat of stating all of our rent and legal policies will be withdrawn if immediate payment is not made as well as aggressive and threatening remarks insinuating that we have copied another agents brand and that she will be speaking with that agent in the coming days. Seemingly their only accounts member is very junior and refused to provide an explanation on the discrepancy and instead just continued to send a reconciliation report as the explanation, so I took it upon myself to look back at all invoices and quickly found wrong invoices posted to our account. Despite making them aware of this, they’ve ignored my emails to clarify this, refused to apologise for their mistake and made I quote “a one-time, without prejudice offer to clear all outstanding charges on our account. This means that by accepting this offer, there is no admission of fault on either side". Aside from this, we’ve experienced Legal for Landlords cold call our landlords to upsell insurance and other services despite ticking the ‘do not contact’ box on numerous occasions as well as sign our landlords up their online account without permission or knowledge from either ourselves or our landlords. There are many other landlord referencing and insurance suppliers out there, so if you don’t want a supplier using your landlords data to upsell their services and products without your knowledge and have to deal with horrible, aggressive, threatening emails late at night over a discrepancy of under £65.53 that you didn't actually owe, then avoid this company.
