I'm absolutely appalled at my treatment these past few months by merryweathers. I've been renting a furnished flat for 18 months… after a few broken appliances and promises of repairs I decided I had had enough and handed in my notice. My fridge freezer (that was here when I moved in) broke last month, as a full time working single mum that lives hand to mouth I obviously don't just have a few hundred pounds laying around to go out and purchase a brand new one. I contacted the estate agents and the landlord basically said he couldn't help me on that one, along with a broken oven that I've been waiting for to be fixed for over a month. I have always paid my rent in full and on time. However I had to make a decision to pay my rent or buy a new appliance in order to keep food in my 3 year old daughters mouth. Obviously I chose the latter as anyone would. They even had the cheek to tell me after the landlord refused to replace it that “if I bought a new one I would have to leave it when I left” well obviously? I wouldn't have weather I was told I could or not! Long story short I had a very rude phone call today from Collette. I told her I would be able to pay next week when I get paid as I physically did not have the money in my account right now, she didn't even let me explain my circumstances before actually SHOUTING at me down the phone, saying do you think we would make you wait a week for your bond back. I'm a 27 year old woman with enough going on and do not need some woman shouting at me down the phone because my rent is going to be a week and half late! I'm actually disgusted at how this woman spoke to me today when I asked for her name she told me Collette and repetitively told me she was the manager. Probably knowing I was to lodge a complaint. I'm sorry but just because your the manager does NOT give you the right to speak to people, especially paying customers, however you see fit. Stick your bond where the sun don't shine, I'll have the keys back to you asap and will ensure I and anyone else I encounter NEVER use merryweathers ever again. Maybe take a quick minute in future to think about how tough some people may have it at the moment before adding any more stress into their lives. Absolutely disgusting.
