Avoid - clearly no integrity within the company. Viewed two flats, had an offer accepted on one which was then outbid, as can happen. Placed an offer on the second flat, which also was accepted and after some negotiations we transferred a holding deposit (it's our understanding that the purpose of this is to remove the flat from market). Less than 2 days later we received a call to say that the landlord had accepted a higher offer that had been put to him after we had paid to hold the property while referencing took place. Whilst the landlord is entitled to withdraw, one might expect the estate agents to show integrity and not engage with other offers. A number of other estate agents we have spoken to since have agreed this is not accepted practice. Whole process has been a huge inconvenience .

24 Mar 2021Following your review, I would like to say how sorry I am for your disappointment and frustration and offer my apologies that this situation arose. Unfortunately we are obliged to put forward any offer received even where an offer has been agreed. We always remove properties from the market as soon as an offer is secured and any subsequent viewings would be cancelled. In this instance the viewings had taken place prior to your offer being secured. As this happened over the weekend, it meant that the situation didn't arise until Monday, which resulted in the delay. As previously mentioned, we are obliged to advise Landlords of all offers, but would encourage Landlords to stand by their initial decision. Unfortunately the Landlords decision is not within our control, despite our views. Sadly in this instance the Landlord decided to accept another offer. It clearly doesn't reflect well on us as a company, but I can assure you that we do not encourage this behavior and that we stop all marketing and viewings once an offer is secured. Once again please accept my apologies for your disappointment.

Everything smacked of unprofessionalism and laziness. The agent hadn't bothered to do any research on the flat we looked at.
