Kept waiting for over a month by Jacksons despite repeatedly asking for a contract, told it was their solicitor causing the delay. Meanwhile they continued to market the property on RightMove. We were asked for £10k up front without a contract, and a deposit that was substantially more than the advertised amount. We had direct communication with the Landlord which seemed to be good. Several months after viewing (and a couple of days before our scheduled moving date) we were finally asked for a holding deposit. Property still advertised as available, told it was a mistake. At this point we had lost a lot of confidence in Jacksons. Then when the draft contract is finally amended and being approved we are told that the landlord is no longer willing to rent to us – 48 hours before the removers were due to arrive! Followed up with the MD who took no responsibility whatsoever for the many bad practices. A disappointing and costly experience for us, not to be repeated.
