As a student, I have nothing good to say about Tassi Lettings. Throughout every stage of our tenancy, myself and the five others I lived with felt ignored and intimidated. Tassi doesn't see you as a person; they see you as a piggy bank, to be shaken down for everything they can get. Moving into the property in the first place was a complete headache. After both our deposit and first rent payment had been given to Tassi, myself and two of the six tenants in our flat were prevented from collecting our keys and moving in as an unrelated tenant had yet to provide certain documents. This was nothing to do with us, yet we were barred from entering the property we had already begun renting for superfluous reasons. The property had a vast amount of issues from the moment we moved in. The flat had not been properly cleaned or refurbished from the previous tenancy, with stains, messes and even some broken fittings on arrival. These issues would later be held against us and subtracted to a ludicrous degree from our deposits. We attempted to dispute these subtractions, but, and I quote, "[Tassi Lettings] would need a date stamped photo from August 2018 in order to support any dispute". In August of 2018, I was not a university student, nor did I even know of this property. Further emails asking for Tassi to elborate on these impossible demands or further disputes were flat out ignored. Maintenance issues that we raised throughout our tenancy were at best, fixed after a long delay in receiving a response, and at worst, ignored or disregarded. I will talk about some of the main ones now. One of us had £50 disappear from their room, after a Tassi employee entered during a video call and pointed out that it was there. Though we cannot accuse the employee of theft, it is highly suspicious that the money went missing shortly after they discovered it. After chasing Tassi up on this matter, they claimed they had checked the CCTV and seen nothing. Blame was then shifted onto the owner of the money, making it seem as though they had just lost it. A formal police complaint went nowhere as "Any CCTV would have been over-written by now". On one night, in the early hours of the morning. A group of other residents in the building drunkenly forced their way into our flat and, mistakingly believing it to be their own, shouted and threatened us until they realised what was happening a while later. Our claims were once again disregarded with little more than a "sorry to hear about the circumstances" and once again blaming us for leaving our doors unlocked, something we have not done. When CCTV footage of the incident was reviewed (with two of us invited to watch), it was clear that the door was not unlocked, as the group had to repeatedly shove into the door to get inside. If the residents responsible for this were contacted about the incident, we were not told about it. Many residents in the flats around us smoked marijuana on a regular basis, causing a constant foul smell to linger in the building. On top of this, fire alarms from the marijuana smoke were frequently triggered as late as 1 o'clock in the morning. I personally reported this issue to Tassi, although they claimed they had "recently conducted inspections at the apartments with no reports". My report was not followed up on and the marijuana and disruptive late night fire alarms were present in the building for the entire tenancy. A problem unrelated to maintenance but still a very persistent one were viewings that Tassi "arranged" for our flat. We understand that viewings are a vital part in getting tenants for next year, but on almost all occasions, one of two things occured: 1. They would email us ahead of time to let us know when the viewing would occur. They would then either show up drastically earlier or later than this time, or not even show up at all. We were never alerted about cancellations. 2. They would not email us and show up with viewing parties as large as 10 without warning. Sometimes only one of us would be present in the flat at this time, and we were pressured into letting these large groups poke around the common areas and our rooms with no advance warning. The final issue I will mention was when our flat's carbon monoxide alarm was going off. We called a British Gas engineer who came out and inspected the alarm, which was going off loudly the entire time no matter where it was taken. The engineer then needed to inspect the main valve for our flat, so that he could perform checks and shut it off (as is standard for a CO issue). A code from Tassi was required to see this valve. Tassi did not know this code and pointed us to a different company who were presumably contracted to manage the security. After literal hours of back and forth phone calls, the company accused the engineer of being illegitimate, and later provided him with several incorrect codes until the correct one was reached and the valve could be accessed. The engineer was working overtime for much of this and everyone was frustrated by Tassi's and the contracted company's unproffesionalism in getting this sorted. I don't think I need to say anymore. If anyone, especially a student, is still considering renting with Tassi Lettings after reading this review, I beg you to reconsider. The facade of professionalism wears off the instant the tenancy begins, and from there, it's just a matter of how much stress you'll gain and how much money you'll lose by the end of it.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
