UPDATE TO THIER RESPONSE. Yes they offered me £200 which I declined. I will take this to the ombudsman for statistical purposes and will be filing a motion in the small claims court. IF IT IS CHEAPER GUYS, DONT FALL INTO THE TRAP. GO FOR A REPUTABLE LOCAL ESTATE AGENT AND PAY THAT BIT EXTRA. Sadly not a pleasant experience at all for me using this company. I was taken in by their add and also paid extra for viewings. Firstly the property ad that they made up was used from an old ad they did for me to let the property and the pictures taken where poor so we reused the old ones. In over six months i had four viewings. There was one offer, but this offer was from an estate agent i ended up employing due to lack of views via purple bricks. Once I started to use a local agent i had five viewings a week and multiple offers. I sold the flat in under two months with the other estate agency. I am now stuck with two bills. The purple bricks model is flawed. When I spoke with Purple Bricks about a refund for poor service I was told they struggled to gain access to the property because of the tenant (she cancelled only one viewing) and that it is my fault that i have to pay two fees as if i had stuck with them it would have been sold by them. This is incorrect; it was sold by another agency due to their proactive work. Once Purple bricks get your cash and placed your add, it seems their work is done. I also conveyed my concerns to their head office who called once a month to see how everything was going, and nothing was ever changed... These are the reasons from their customer service team as to why they feel they delivered a service, my comments in capitals... "While I appreciate your disappointment in the number of viewings achieved, it should be noted that there were other factors involved. I am aware that the tenant was not always cooperative and that collecting the key from the other estate agent was not ideal. Had you not instructed another agent, there is every likelihood that your buyer would have viewed your property with Purplebricks." OTHER ESTATE AGENT WAS ALWAYS COOPERATIVE IN GIVING THEM THE KEYS. LIKELY HOOD OF SELLING VIA THEM WAS NON EXISTANT AS MINIMAL VIEWINGS WHEREAS OTHER AGENT HAD 5 A WEEK IMMEDIATELY. Although you chose to instruct another agent, we continued to be available to sell your home. Obviously your decision to engage another agent has resulted in more significant costs being incurred, however this was outside our control and is the reason we generally advise customers against instructing multiple agents. For these reasons I am unable to uphold this aspect of your complaint. AS ABOVE IS MY REASONING AS TO WHY I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO INSTRUCT ANOTHER AGENT. I feel robbed in all honesty... :(

4 May 2019I would be interested to know how you get on with the small claims court. I am in the same situation as you. Trying to sell with PURPLE BRICKS is a waste of time and money. They are not proactive and their ‘service’ does not work. They do not stick to their side of the agreement.

16 Nov 2019This is interesting reading as it is so similar to my partners experience & I note it is also in the Maidstone area. We have just had a response from TPO, who despite no evidence from Purple Bricks seem to have sides with them. They are nothing but a very expensive and poor quality advertisement service. They should not be listed as an estate agents and ergo TPO are probably not suited to deal with these complaints. Probably should be investigated by the trading standards for misleading advertising of their own product.

18 Nov 2019Unfortunately they ruled against me also. Stating that it is clear in the terms and conditions that they are not liable for unsold properties etc etc etc. They are scum and i advise to steer clear

Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise anyone to avoid Purplebricks. The standards are extremely poor and the entire process appears fragmented and poorly managed. I first listed my place in January 2025 (I think). I got 4 genuine viewers, 2 of whom made offers. Then things went quiet so I got 5 mates to book viewings. That's 5 unique email addresses + 5 mobile numbers. After each of my mates booked a viewing, sure enough a '' viewing was booked. This ... Read Full Review

Upfront fee regardless of sale. I paid in region of £1k but property didn't sell. I didn't realise they pull the advert after six months. Dealing with a online real estate agent Purplebricks is a nightmare for us buying a property. The first day we visit a house where the hired freelance viewing assistant does not have the pincode to open the key box. The freelance assistant already file a complaint with Purplebricks two days earlier with the same issue where he also had to disappoint potential viewers. Nothing was done to sort this issue in those days and therefor we were the second viewers he had to disappoint. Onwards to the next house, bit of a walk away from public transport, and at that next address there was nobody to open the door. Ofcourse Purplebricks blaims this on the owner who was supposed to show the place to us. With their beautiful Purplebricks sign in the garden they still don't take responsibility for the end to end service. Both cases show why you need have a local real estate agent who has knowledge of the neighbourhood, knows the house him or herself, and can actually add value to the visit and to the conversation with the potential buyer. When you call Purplebricks better have enough credit on your phone since they will put you on hold long and regularly. The last issue is now they want to have our own postal address certified by a solicitor ($$) while that was not the case with the previous purchase few months ago with a local real estate agent. Let us all do ourselves a favour and do business with local real estate agents who actually add value to the sales and buying process.

The agent fees appears cheaper than other agents but they did not say it is only for six months which is quite deceitful.
