Andrews Headington found me tenants who had only six months left on their right to live and work in the UK. This was of little concern to Andrews who wanted the tenants and the landlord to sign a 12 month tenancy agreement. Andrews did so in the full knowledge that this would be illegal. Andrews showed both disengenuous and fraudulent behaviour with no regard to either client, only interested in their financial gain. Do not use.

1 Jun 2019Very unprofessional. We are the tenancy people of Clover Ground in Westbury. They came for viewing while we are still in bed with out letting us know. The first time they left and leave the door unlocked very disappointed from this estate agents !

6 Jun 2019I am sorry to read that you do not believe that our Headington Branch acted appropriately when advertising your property, for let and introducing prospective Tenants to you. To clarify, the Immigration Act 2018 requires a Landlord/Agent to check and verify the immigration status of any prospective Tenant prior to entering into a Tenancy Agreement. The Act states that any prospective Tenant must not be discriminated against and as such, if, at the commencement of a tenancy, an individual has a right to live/rent in the UK, any length of tenancy can be granted as agreed between both Landlord and Tenant. The Act further states that if the Residence Permit and/or Visa are time limited, which was the situation for one of your Tenants, then further checks must be made prior to the expiry of the Permit/Visa. The obligation on the Landlord/Agent is to carry out these further checks during the tenancy. Once these checks have been carried out and if the Tenant is unable to provide renewed documentation, the Landlord/Agent must report the matter to the Home Office. A Landlord/Agent would only receive a fine if they fail to report. Having reviewed all the information held, I am satisfied that the Branch did act appropriately and the prospective Tenants had the right under the Immigration Act to rent a property in the UK and it would not have been illegal for either party to sign a Tenancy Agreement. The Branch also ensured that they provided you with details of the future checks that were required, ensuring that you had all the information necessary to make an informed decision. 6 Jun 2019Andrews behaviour was both disingenuous and unprofessional. Did not explain any of the above to me as a Client. All I got was someone calling to tell me I must sign a form from Andrews saying that I know that the tenant had only six months left on their visa.. No explanations, no choice of would I like to sign for a different, shorter period. No option of that because that might result in less commission for Andrews? Instead dump the issue on the Landlord if the visa is not renewed. Arrogant, dishonest, disrespectful and disingenous behaviour displayed to both the Landlord and Tenant.

Ended up being very good value for money, at the start I thought the fee was a little high as was more than other agents but glad I went with them and was good to know they are owned by charitable trusts.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
