AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Unless of course you enjoy dealing with unprofessional sales staff... My horrendous experience started badly when the previous branch manger came out to value my property and felt it was more appropriate to talk to me about his personal life and how he's having an affair with one of the girls from the St Albans branch. Nor was I interested or did I care... I just wanted him to sell my property. First week on the market after making it quite clear I wanted no one in my house wearing shoes... to my amazement muddy foot prints all up the stairs and in the bedrooms. I had to pay for professional carpet cleaning. They also used my bathroom on this same visit, I think this in itself is disgusting but they couldn't even be bothered to clean up after themselves. I returned home from work at 9pm that evening to clean feces from the pan and urine from the toilet seat and floor. If this wasn't insulting enough the toilet seat also remained up. My house is always immaculate especially on days where there are viewings scheduled, I cleaned the bathroom especially that morning. I was furious and demanded a cancellation of contract and key returned. I threatened with making a complaint to head office but was bribed with a very reduced fee of £1500inc vat. I only considered staying as the branch manager left and they brought in a new girl who seemed very nice and on the ball. I gave her 4 weeks to sell the house before changing agents. She infact sold my property in the first 3 weeks, happy days! But unfortunately it fell through the day before exchange so subsequently back on the market. My disappointment was not with her, she was professional and looked after my house as I'd asked her to but unfortunately has not been well so is working reduced hours which means her manager has had to take some viewings. He left all the lights on upstairs for 48 hours last week, I did not return home that evening as I didn't think he would dare not leave the house as he found it!!! The last straw for me.... I contacted him in regards to feedback from 3 viewings that had taken place 3 days previous... (yes you have to call for offers and feedback) they never keep you updated. He then informed me of an offer of £20k under asking price. He told me this was a cash buyer (but not ready to proceed for 5 months) and a very good offer and that I should seriously consider accepting. I found this extremely insulting. I was being asked to take my property off the market for £20k under asking price and to wait 5 months to even exchange and that's if this 'cash buyer' didn't pull out in the meantime. Lots of other niggly bits I wasn't half impressed with but these are the main disappointments to me. STAY AWAY... THEY ARE AN UTTER SHAMBLES!!!

When the job for which the fees are paid, is done well, they are appropriate, but when there are numerous issues, or lack of clarification, this results in doubt around what you are paying the fees for!!

The fees are very competitive and were benchmarked against several other agents in the town and Connells were the best on a full management basis .I have now used them since 2012 and always found them Competitive and Efficient especially when try to re-let property
