Took a large 'holding' deposit' from us to take it off the market and kept it on the market. Incompetent, and dishonest, they kept asking for more things they didn't need and so we gave up and asked for our money back. So far, they haven't given it back and it's some months later.
It was a holding deposit to take it off the market but they kept it on the market. We lost £450 and will have to sue them to get it back.

30 Jan 2018Its the first time in over 20 years in business that we have received a complaint/comment such as this. We have asked them to refer their complaint to the Property Ombudsman (which thus far they have not done). We regard their comments as vexatious and their complaints without any foundation whatsoever.

30 Jan 2018You did not take the property off the market which was the reason for the holding deposit. Going through the Property Ombudsman is not possible if you intend to take your claim to court. We asked for our money back and at one point you offered to pay it back. This is not the way to do business and the fair thing to do would have been to take it off the market, but you didn't. We checked online and it was advertised for rent although we had paid the holding fee.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
