Our short time with Waterfords has been one of the worst estate agents experiences of my rental life. Upon agreeing to a tenancy, we were subject to make a £500 'good faith' deposit on top of all the usual fees. On check-in day, the property had not been cleaned nor had essential maintenance been given in the six or so weeks since we first viewed the property. (the kitchen roof leaked, the kitchen cupboard hinges rusted plus much, much more). We later found out from the neighbour that the previous tenant passed away in the property which shocked us further that there was a cleaning oversight from Waterfords Fleet. Waterfords sold the lie that maintenance and cleaning would be performed prior to the tenancy starting, but two months in and we were still waiting for several jobs to be completed. We have recently requested repairs to windows and other areas of the house, such as dangerous wiring from lights in the kitchen but we have had no update in over a month. Every single time we have had to chase the property management team in Fleet for an update for any sort of progress, often having to remind Waterfords of what the situation/problem is in the first place. There seems to be zero proactiveness in their approach to property management (unless it involves collecting money from tenants!) Finally, it seems that we are not the only renters in this similar situation. At least in our area, we know of another neighbour who started tenancy with Waterfords but are due to leave before the end of their 12-month initial tenancy.
Extorniant. Required £500 'good faith' deposit as well as usual fees. Something near £800 in admin fees plus potential renewal fees (if we were staying).

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
