The Town of Rye
With its historic roots and medieval streets, Rye is a charming picturesque town. Rye is located just two miles from the open sea on the River Rother and surrounded by the Romney marshes along with the nearby sandy beach at Camber and shingle beach at Winchelsea. There is plenty to do and see, including one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Europe on the marsh, many water sports, cycle ways and footpaths. There are a large variety of pubs and restaurants in the town centre that offers various entertainments as well as quaint country pubs situated in the rural outlying countryside. The town offers a range of shopping facilities with good transport links, there is a local train service to Brighton and to Ashford in Kent with connections to London. There is car access to the M20 via the A2070 and A259.
